We decided to take a break with our 2.5 half year old daughter and chose this resort as we already spent our honeymoon here. Overall impression: The hotel was quite empty when we arrived on 13th on January and our beach bungalow looked run down and tired and in serious need of a renovation. On a plus side no masks are required except for the buffet area. Restaurant: Only one restaurant available for guests staying in beach villas and beach and garden bungalows. The food was mediocre and lacked fresh fruit (only oranges and melon were provided whilst water melon and papaya was offered only on occasion. There is a clear lack of healthy choices (e.g muesli, fresh juices other than canned orange and apple juice and fresh fruit) are not on offer. For those trying to keep up a healthy diet the buffet is a disappointment. Last but not least there is absolutely no child care provided although this was indicated differently at the resort’s website. The hotel has an unsupervised (!) kids club where children of all ages can play while their parents stay and supervise them. The place is dirty, dark and sad - we only went there once and did not return. My husband and I wanted to go diving together and also visit the underwater restaurant for lunch which has a restrictive policy and children are not allowed. We were informed at the reception that paid babysitting is not available for children under the age of 3. When asked whether an exception can be made so that we could at least leave for a quick lunch to the underwater restaurant (a special treat we have been looking forward to) we were given a plain no by the unfriendly reception staff. Overall a mediocre resort with extremely inflexible and unfriendly service rules for families with small children. We are currently staying at the resort which is pretty empty and a pretty certain that it will stay empty given its service policy and value for money.
Perfect family getaway
Having fortunately managed to get away in between lockdowns, we enjoyed a perfect December break in Kuredu. We last visited 12 years ago and were delighted to find that the resort is just as great as when we first visited. The detail in the other recent reviews is accurate so I won’t repeat it all here. I will just say that Kuredu is a great balance of luxury and value, I would definitely return and I can strongly recommend it.
Everything about the island of Kuredu is absolutely exceptional, 12 nights we spent in paradise, we went AI we had our 2 daughters with us 10 & 14 it made sense. We kept busy Jet skiing, scuba diving twice, parasailing, snorkelling, turtle & dolphin safaris, unforgettable trips all round. Thanks to Ludo at pro-divers, Derek & crew on the beach side water-sports activities it’s a must, so much excitement awaits! The food was tasteful always something to eat waiters are always welcoming & helpful. My husband did buy bottled red wine due to his particular taste, I found the AI cocktails were a great taste. The islands entertainment Lulu & Rustein well, you are truly special humans! Thank you, we’ll never forget jiving in the Maldives with you positive people specially with what is going on in the world you made the place such a happy place to be. Your voices, tones & range of songs just made our evenings in Kuredu. Thank you to all the staff, you’re fabulous we will look forward to returning, stay safe all.
Irresponsible, unprepared and mercenaries
Due to the irresponsibility and unpreparedness of the team at the Kuredu resort, belonging to the Crown and Champa Resorts group, I almost lost my sight, could have suffered serious physical injury or even lost my life. During my stay at Kuredu (between 03/01/2021 and 06/01/2021) I suffered a serious injury to my right eye when participating in the Night Snorkel Tour offered by them (several Crown and Champa resorts offer this dangerous event). During the Night Snorkel tour a needlefish was attracted by my flashlight and it hit my right eye at over 60 km / h. The impact was very serious (the luck is that the impact was against the snorkeling mask). I lost consciousness and went into shock (see image of my eye). For a few hours, due to the severity of the injury, I lost my sight. I thought I was blind. It is important to note that at no time was I alerted of what activity could put my life and or my physical integrity at risk. I was not informed that the Needlefish could attack due to the light from the flashlights used. I was never informed that Needlefish was a dangerous fish etc etc. Irresponsibly, they offer this event as something safe and fun (there were even children on our snorkeling group). If the activity can put guests' lives at risk why do they offer it? Why don't you warn guests about the danger? IRRESPONSIBLE! The medical assistance was precarious, there was no team prepared for such an occurrence, nor was there a seaplane ready to attend. I only leave the Resort the next day on a regular seaplane flight. After I left, they never gave me any assistance or contacted me to check my health status. In addition, they charged me for all additional expenses as if they had no responsibility for what had happened. I hope that I can recover 100% of my vision and warn everyone to never participate in this irresponsible event! Think twice before staying at the Crown and Champa Resorts group. They are irresponsible, mercenaries and don't really care about the welfare of their customers! P.S: Before staying at Kuredu Resort, i have stayed at Hurawalhi (between 12/29/2020 and 1/3/2021). There they also offer the Night Snorkel Tour. IRRESPONSIBLE!
Perfect Paradise Island
Wow - just wow! After an incredibly long flight we landed in paradise - Kuredu was heaven on earth! We had a lovely welcome to the island and rather than queuing patiently at reception we were sat, with a cold drink and hand towels and welcomed by Miru our island host. Our beach jacuzzi villa's were like having your own slice of beach - imagine walking less than 50ft to a crystal clear ocean! The room was spacious and well equipped. The bathroom was a little strange in that it was partially open to the elements but you soon got used to showering in the open! We were at the Sangu end of the island so it was peaceful and a stones throw away from Sangu Bar and restaurant which had an excellent buffet at breakfast lunch and dinner. Good variety each day and of high quality. Turning left out of our villa took you to the heart of the resort with a la carte restaurants to choose from - highly recommend Far East and the Rustic BBQ but our favourites by far were 5.8 dinner taster menu and the Chefs table - it was a pleasure to meet Chef Warren who's talent and expertise shone through every aspect of the resorts dining experiences but his personal attention to my vegetarian diet was amazing - I didn't feel like an after thought, with each dish surpassing the last. Big thanks to him and his team for all the incredible food! Our holiday was made by the staff - all were helpful and always happy no matter where in the resort you were! We had an absolute blast at the White Party which is a must if you are there on a Friday but as entertainment goes you would be remiss if you didn't spend an evening with Atlantis Duo - Lulu has the voice of an angel and Rustein is a maestro. There is something for everyone in their varied sets and I defy you not to get on your feet! We were gutted not to have seen the whole band together over the festive period but were glad to have met and experienced the magic these two bring! We would come back just to hear them play! In conclusion, Kuredu is an amazing resort that caters for everyone and highly recommend a visit!
