ANOTHER WONDERFUL VISIT.
Our 7th trip this year to Kuredu was wonderful. We met up with familiar faces of staff members who welcomed us back. We were pleased with our room allocation in a beach villa at the O resort & settled in straight away, ‘home from home’ as they say. The staff on the reception were always helpful with any requests, thank you. As the island is large, there are buggy’s to ferry you from area to area if you don’t want to walk, we especially enjoyed our chats with our friends Toujan & Alvin. Thank you both for a great service with added value! As we have returned more than 5 times, we are able to eat in any of the restaurants in the 3 resorts & use any of the bars so it is difficult to remember all the names of staff to say thank you to, but all gave good, efficient service with a smile. In the O restaurant it was nice to see familiar faces, Rahim one of the chefs & Nasith who was our waiter this time & has been on a previous visit. He was good at remembering what we liked to drink & was efficient. All the staff work as a team & do a fantastic job. Thank you to all. It was nice to see our ‘old friend’ Rahman in Sangu restaurant, still tripping around between tables, the bar & the kitchen – he was our first waiter in 2005 & we look out for him every visit! The food is varied, of a high standard & beautifully presented. The themed nights ensure a great range of dishes are available & we particularly enjoy the homemade soups. Food allergies or intolerances are catered for too. I would appreciate a hot plate dispenser as a way of keeping our food hot for longer. The weather was hot 32*C & sunny, but there was a strong wind most of the time coming from the East which restricted snorkelling on the house reef & even in the lagoon. We saw turtles, shark, a huge sting ray, ‘puffa fish’ & many of the ‘usual’ fish of all shapes & sizes in the lagoon & the sea grass area by Sangu pool. This island does not have easy reef snorkelling for beginners but the lagoon & non windy side are very calm & good for nervous snorkellers. The sunset cruises are great, this time we saw lots of dolphins, even ones spinning in the air & the staff allowed us to stay out for longer while they were there. Few people look at the sunset! Book a few days ahead & don't leave it until the end of your holiday in case the weather prevents the boats going out. Check out the sunsets on the spit too. The music nights down at the main area are great – a retro night & the ‘white’ night. Lots of coloured lights & lasers lighting up the palms around the pool & at the back of the beach. Previously, the music & dancing has been indoors, but this year it was outside which was a lot better feeling the cool breeze from the beach while dancing & drinking. There is also a resident band who go round the different areas over the week & a dive school night as well as ‘chill out’ nights to give variety. The guest band – Aquatic Vibe were brilliant, hope they will still be there next year. We have re booked to return next year, many people have returned 10, 15, 20 times. There is such variety to this island that you don’t get bored! Since returning, there has been the Corona Virus outbreak which has affected everywhere, we hope all on Kuredu remain well & keep safe. Our thoughts are with you all. John & Lynn
Had a great stay at Kuredu. We stayed in the O villas which were lovely. Especially loved our open air bathroom. All members of the staff at Kuredu from wait staff, to check in staff to retail associates were all very helpful. Our dining room waiter - Shaleef (spelling is probably wrong) and Manju the bartender took good care of us. When we booked the hotel we were a bit concerned that with so many rooms on the island we'd feel cramped and would be bumping into people everywhere but that was not the case. Also one night we went to 5.8 the underwater restaurant at one of their sister hotels. What a fun experience. Thanks again to everyone for making this a great trip.
Holiday of a lifetime, that’s what was planned
This was supposed to be a holiday of a lifetime and it was in some respects. This island is gorgeous, the grounds are superb and the staff are the most wonderful ambassadors for the island. It was unfortunate that a day after our arrival the island was put in lockdown because of Corona virus. This curtailed all activities on the island, the blame is NOT that of the management team however put a dampener on our holiday. We stayed in a garden bungalow 455 and I expected a little more luxury than we got. The insides needed a complete modernisation as there were several issues that let it down badly. 1. Broken bedside lamp, stained lampshade. 2. Paint on wardrobes chipped and shelves inside, the paint was stained. 3. The grouting in the floor tiles had been attempted to be replaced, different colour and cracked. I wouldn’t stay in one of these again. Considered complaining but we were already somewhat downbeat and didn’t want any other incidents to spoil our holiday. Management must be aware of these issues of distressed properties. Must state that the head waiter Ibrahim was excellent and looked after us throughout our visit, he certainly knows the way to enhance the customer experience, great guy.
5TH VISIT TO KUREDU
What a fantastic place and fantastic staff. I cannot say enough about this Island. We stay in a Water Villa in the Sangu, over 18, resort. I have to name some staff by name who made our stay even more amazing beginning with the restaurant. The chef's are second to none, the food is outstanding. Asim, our Waiter, we have had from year one and Rahman who we have had when Asim is off, we love these guys! We also had Shafleen from O resort when we ate there, what a lovely guy. The bar staff to name a few, Indika, Darsh, Jayantha. The Pool attendant, Sobahan, looked after us impeccably for our 2 weeks, however we did miss Mirajul! We saw him briefly at the main pool before we came home as he was on annual leave for a while. His smile is infectious! We also did the Romantic Dinner Cruise for 2 and Thoddu was amazing along with the rest of the crew. Last but not least, Toujan and Albin the taxi drivers! Albin was so helpful and Toujan, what can I say, his laughter and giggles made my day. See you next year Kuredu for year number 6!!
Best place in the world
This was our 4th visit to Kuredu and though I thought it couldn't get any better, it did. We had booked with friends the Sangu Water Villas for 2 nights & Jacuzzi Beach Villa for 5. We were fortunate to be upgraded to remain in the water villas for the week. Ibrahim kept our villa spotless every day and night, clean towels and bed linen regularly changed. Waters always supplied and mini bar well maintained. Faultless so thank you. Chef Paul does an incredible job in keeping such a variety of wonderful fresh dishes that every meal is a culinary delight. I enjoyed eating at Sangu more than Koamas because you were able to sit outside in the mornings and evenings so was particularly special to be al fresco. Our dedicated waiter, Alif Ali is a very special young man. He is very personable, professional with a good sense of humour and was very engaging. A great ambassador for Kuredu. We were joined by friends who were visiting Kuredu for the first time and they too fell in love with this beautiful island and snorkelled for the first time. The house reef with its incredible variety of fish is simply stunning. We were lucky to swim with huge rays, sharks, turtles as well as the very varied fish in this incredible ocean. White Night is always a good party night and was helped by the great service from Siraj who always served us with a smile and with great efficiency. Our trip this time was even more memorable perhaps due to the fact it demonstrated the commitment of this hotel to its customers and their wellbeing and enjoyment of their stay. We were informed the day before we were due to leave that the hotel was now in quarantine so no flights out or in due to an Italian that had visited and infected 4 staff with the Coronavirus. The hotel dealt with this issue incredibly quickly and safely ensuring all tourists were protected to the best of their ability. As far as I am aware, no tourists were infected. Unlike the experience of those quarantined on the ship in Japan in awful conditions, we continued to be treated royally. The staff, despite the fact, their peak season was being affected, they were still full of smiles and warmth and was most definitely business as usual. You would not have known that there was anything amiss. Incredible resilience and the management should be very proud of the team and how they have conducted themselves throughout this period, I hope that guests will continue to visit soon as it really is the best place to be in the world, I would recommend Sangu Water Villa 507 which is by pier 1 as you can walk through to the house reef and the other beach quickly.Definitely worth paying the extra, I didn't think I would want to be in the Water Villas as much as Jacuzzi Beach Villas but now I think they are the best.
