Swimming with the Fishes
This was our second time at Moofushi, a glorious spot surrounded by a house reef with a wide variety of fish. Truly a Jewel Island! The reason we came to Moofushi the first time in 2013 was the incredible reef and the superb snorkeling. We returned this time hoping that the precious Moofushi reef along with the rest of the Atolls in the Maldives had not been critically damaged in those 7 years due to climate change. While there had been the telltale signs of bleaching, the coral reef is still vibrant with fish and the coral is beginning to return. The best part of our trip was meeting the new staff Marine Biologist, Estrella Tápias. Her enthusiasm is infectious. She is so passionate and in her talks, so clear in explaining complicated subjects to business people like us, that we actually understood and got it. We were then able to take all that knowledge with us into the water which significantly enriched our snorkeling experience. Our second to last day was absolutely fantastic. One of the innovative projects that Estrella is driving is to “plant” new coral to augment the existing coral regrowth. We sponsored 3 medium sized reef building frames. After Estrella explained carefully how to attach the coral to the iron frame, we worked quickly as a team to get all the little baby pieces of coral attached. We then ceremoniously carried our frame with the babies attached and placed it in the water. Estrella then moved the frames to their new home in deeper water. We will definitely be back to check on our baby corals. They are in our hearts now. If Moofushi is a Jewel Island, then Estrella is it’s most precious gem! Positives: Sven Schmidt and his team are doing a fantastic job with the variety and quality of culinary options and wine on offer - a significant improvement from our first visit in 2013. The waitstaff, bartenders, sommeliers were friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Antony, Joseph, Mode, and Pincher for always taking excellent care of us. The General Manager, Sasha, and her entire team are to be commended for their customer service. The USpa at Moofushi is not to be missed. We had three luxurious massages from Kindley and Anna. I highly recommend to take advantage of the spa and watch the fish swim by through the glass floor as the warm tropical breeze flows through the room. The Senior water villa was charming, spacious and comfortable with impeccable views. The two outdoor showers really make it special. The minibar is stocked with water, wines, beer sodas, juices, sweets and savories. Food for Thought: It is clear that Constance Management has implemented some fantastic improvements towards sustainability such as the replacement of all plastic bottles and straws with glass, cans, and biodegradable straws; bottled drinking water created onsite; and hiring a marine biologist/environmental officer. However, there are a few things that seem off-message such as giving all guests disposable plastic flip-flops at check-in and offering products such as sunscreen in the shop that have ingredients that are known to be harmful to coral reefs. We hope that the Constance Management will continue their movement towards eco-friendly sustainable hospitality.
Nice Island with very god food
13 days in relaxed and wonderfull surroundings. It was stormy most of the days and a boattrip was cancelled. The sea was NOT clear for snorkeling and we saw only a few fish. Snorkelling may be better if it is calm and Good service and thank you for helping us in the airport in Male where 5 men guided us to the gate 15 minuts before take OFF. Trans Maldivian Airline has never been reliabel and we will choose another Company next time, maybee an Island with its own flights or ship transportation.
It was my first time in the Maldives and I had a list of boxes to tick if it was going to meet my expectations, not because I'm fussy but because I wanted this to be a dream experience for my 30th wedding anniversary. Well all I can say is it's the first time I've ever been on holiday, to anywhere (and I have travelled), and my vision has not only been matched but at times, surpassed. The resort itself is an understated luxury, the service (again) is unfussy but attentive, friendly and warm. I wasn't sure about a predominantly buffet holiday but this isn't a standard buffet, it was varied, fresh and delicious with the eating stations providing a 'just cooked' option....in fact all the food was superb and you're not going to go hungry with all the other options avilable to you throughout the day. I could go on all day (cleanliness, snorkelling, ambiance etc) but I think it's enough to say that I would love to return as soon as I can.
Celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary
This place is out of this world. From the moment you arrive on this stunning island you are treated like royalty. The customer service is outstanding, We stayed in a beach bungalow and it was absolutely perfect in every way, we loved waking up every morning and being able to open our sliding doors leading straight on to the beautiful white sand. The staff are so nice & welcoming, nothing is too much trouble, the make you feel like it’s your home. The food is amazing there is so much choice. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. Highly recommend this beautiful island
How Could You Possibly Beat This?
I’m rather late leaving this review as we spent three weeks at Constance Moofushi back in November/December. It has been difficult for me to come up with a review that is original and not too repetitive because this resort really is as wonderful as all the reviews you have read. This was our sixth visit and it is very special to find somewhere that you love so much and where you can feel utterly at home, relaxed and happy. This is exactly the feeling we have when we return to Moofushi, safe in the knowledge that the wonderful staff will look after us from the very first moment we arrive in Male to the last minute when we pass through security for our flight home. I’m sure the many repeaters would wholeheartedly agree with me and it is lovely to see familiar faces and spend time with friends on each visit. Moofushi offers the perfect mix of luxury and informality which is exactly what we are looking for. If you prefer to be fawned over by obsequious butlers, then this is not the place for you. However, if you are a fan of a beautiful island, delicious food and drinks, fabulous, spotlessly clean rooms and an entire staff who go out of their way to make your holiday as unforgettable as possible, then Moofushi probably is the place for you. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for any of the staff and the Management Team are always on hand to chat and check that everything is to your liking and you are happy. The main restaurant offers three buffets a day and they are always delicious. There are different themes for every night of the week and even if you stay for several weeks, the theme will come around again, but the choices on offer will be different - such is their extensive range - and should you by some amazing chance not fancy any of the multitude of amazing choices on offer, one of the chefs will rustle up something that is more to your liking. The Executive Chefs Sven and Daniel really are the ‘Dream Team’ as are all the many chefs who work so hard to produce such delicious meals. Allergies are also meticulously catered for as well as vegetarian and vegan choices. One meal per week at the a la carte Alizee Restaurant is included as part of the fabulous All Inclusive plan and lunch can be eaten at the Totem Bar from a small, but delicious menu. Again, if you prefer to be waited on at all meals and choose your three or four courses from a set menu, then probably Moofushi is not for you. However, we love the buffet style meals which only add to the relaxed, informal atmosphere where you can eat as much or as little as you want and as quickly or slowly as you like with the added bonus of plenty of sommeliers ready to advise on an extensive range of delicious wines by the glass or even by the bottle for each individual course. Similarly, if you want room service, motorised watersports or a kids’ club, then better to look elsewhere, but for us Moofushi is just perfect as it is. There is so much to do, we never get bored for a second and particularly love diving with the fabulous Blue Tribe and snorkelling along the reef from our Senior Water Villa. There are just too many activities to mention, but some visits to the Spa are always a must. The first thing we did on our return in December was to book again for 2020 and now we only have nine months and three days to wait, but who’s counting?
