Sad to say very disappointing
We have travel to multiple hotels the summer during Covid all of which have exceeded our expectations in cleanliness in service I would’ve expected even more from the Shangri La. We are Shangri-La members and enjoy Shangela hotels all over the world so I was so sad to be so disappointed. Upon arrival we were there a check in time but our room is not ready so we told the lady we were going to the beach she was not very helpful did not get very much information at all about making dinner reservations wish I wish we would have nor did she tell me that there were significant jellyfish and the beach was partially closed. We were thrilled to see that the pool is open but I was surprised the lady at the front desk did not tell us that. No problem my son was happy to play for but 4:45 came around and we were finally able to get into room which only gave us time to drop off our bags before we met friends for dinner at a different location. I noticed the room was not clean it as I had hoped it would be but I assumed maybe there would be more cleaning done during a turn down service came back after dinner to find that we had no turn down service and the room is still dirty. there is trash on the floor hair all over the bathroom and my phone was covered in sticky juice that I had lay down on the nightstand next to us.I called the front desk to ask if they can clean it in the morning as I had to put my son to bed and they said we would at 9 am. we waited and waited and no one came to our room to clean until 1:00 PM. The safe did not work during our stay which is frustrating and the lady at the front desk was not apologetic or checked in on us about room not being clean. There is no turn down service, no coffee maker in the room ...But we were not gonna let all of the above ruin our trip.We have tried to make reservations at the for a Negro upon arrival and they were already fully booked so we went down to the pool café which does not take reservations and they said they were full we would have to wait over an hour to be seated which does not work with the hungry toddler so then we went to the spice market and the lady said they were fully booked so then I lost it a bit and demanded that we had a place to eat so they made us a table. I have to say the restaurant staff is amazing there so incredibly helpful and their service is great they seem to be the only ones at the hotel who truly care about you and are working so incredibly hard. I have to say finally that I’m not comfortable with the way they do the buffet meals here I know they’re trying something different to still do buffet and keep it safe but I did not feel comfortable standing in an incredibly crowded restaurant with so many people not wearing masks. And servers not in gloves as many do. Outdoor seating was nice. All in all it’s a beautiful resort and we had a great trip I’m sure anyone that comes will also have a great trip but my experience soured us enough and it was so overly crowded that we were not extend our stay through the week as we had thought we might. I feel if you book the executive rasa wing suite overlooking the ocean there should be a higher standard of cleanliness and service and there was not.
Our recent staycation with Rasa Sayang at the Rasa Wing was marvelous. Staffs were helpful and friendly. We had an enjoyable stay with Rasa although the pool yet to be opened, we savored the beautiful beach. Kudos to all the staffs at Rasa. We indeed had a memorable stay.
Again, Shangri-La lives up to its Impeccable Standard
In times of covid, it is uanderstandable to be cautious. But with the current good progress of the pandemic handling in the country AND the assurance of Shangri-La's standard of thoroughness, we decided to have a short getaway, praying for a safe and smooth stay. What a good decision that was. The management from the booking,to check-in and the whole stay was handled so graciously and professionally. Truly, one can't help but be impressed and feel truly celebrated. Review of Shangri-La will not be complete without mentioning the living force behind the brand, the People of Shangri-La. Shangri-La always have the right knack in choosing the right people to be part of their family. I would like a special mention of its Duty Manager ,Ms Teoh Peh Chet who really made us feel welcomed and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was smooth and memorable. THANK YOU. Also to Ms Michelle, Ms Devi, Ms Veronica and En Rahim. They each did their part beautifully. Suggestion: Pinang Restaurant is nice, but there is still room for improvement for its food. The staff although seem short-handed, were nonetheless very helpful. Thank you for another happy stay, Shangri-La. You make us plan to return even before we check out.
The best hotel hospitality & facilities In Ferringhi penang
Visited this hotel a few times now. Me and my husband kept on coming back as frequent as we can. The facilities are well equipped, rooms are neat comfortable , clean and spacious. The spa is excellent! All the staffs are very friendly including the managers of the hotel. We were very lucky to have met the most humble and helpful manager named Michelle. She was very kind to us , soft spoken and gave us the best treatment of hospitality during our stay. You should choose this hotel whenever you are in Penang. Trust me you will keep on coming back too!
Excellent service, very nice room, gorgeous grounds, beautiful landscaping.
Great service by staff- genuinely friendly, attentive without being intrusive. Beautiful big grounds with nice landscaping, luscious green grass, n majestic big old Raintrees. Pool was closed due to Covid19 restrictions but it looked lovely n inviting anyway. The breakfast was good (no buffet, again coz of the Covid19 restrictions). Local food at Pinang restaurant was not exceptional but OK. Room was excellent.
