We had a great stay at the hotel after a bad start. Check in was really slow and didn’t get the key till near 4pm. The mangers and staff looked after us throughout our stay but one downside is there’s not many umbrellas. My partner needed one and the only available one was in the Rosa wing in which we wasn’t allowed in. After a discussion with the management concerning our issues we was looked after by the team. I would recommend this hotel and definitely will return one day. Thank you
We loved our stay at the Shangri La Rasa wing and particularly enjoyed the service and hospitality of our attentive staff member Muru. He went above and beyond in tending to our every need. Thank you. We will be back.
A relaxing oasis!
This is my 3rd time back at the Rasa. Post pandemic, it continues to maintain the charm and hospitality that I have come to know it for. Property is well maintained despite the furniture being fairly aged. The level of service continues to be of a high standard and what I’m most impressed is the qualify of the food offerings in the resort. Well done!
Mix feeling experience
Visited the property in May 2022 and was not a good start when I was informed that the suite I booked was unavailable upon check-in. The team was "kind" to offer an upgrade (from a suite with separate living and bedroom) to 2 rooms, which does not make sense. Finally accepted to a downgraded suite (or room) for the first night and subsequent upgraded (real upgrade) to one of their best suites. The restaurant - Spice Market Cafe was always in chaos (be it breakfast or dinner), probably thanks to the good business and festive period. On the other hand, Feringgi Grill have one of the best service throughout the hotel, not mentioning the great dinner I had with friends. The staff, from housekeeping to concierge are friendly and helpful. The nightmare started after check-out, where there is currently an ongoing dispute as I have been charged on my credit card the sum which the hotel took as pre-authorised upon check-in. Despite that I do not have outstanding amount upon check-out, the pre-authorised amount was not released. Even with much communication with the reservation team and duty manager via email, they are persistent that the refund issue lies with my issuing bank. While I file a dispute on the transaction, I was officially informed by the bank that the hotel's bank has declined my request as there was no credit note/acknowledgement issued from the hotel. Till date, the dispute continues........
We stayed in Garden wing for 3 nights. the hotel is bang on the beach but please note that it is not a bathing beach as for that one needs to walk a bit. the check in did not take much time but for sure they don't seem to make you very welcome - there is a strange coldness in almost all hotel staff. forget a welcome drink, they don't even bother to offer you water at check in given that hotel is a good 1 hour drive from airport. i hardly found any staff smiling at the hotel. the breakfast area is large and while the staff is efficient at seating guests, the service kind of stops at that moment itself. for a place as large as that, the staff ratio is extremely low. it takes lot of time for soiled plates to be picked up from the tables. even for something as basic as coffee, one needs to wait a long time before you can find someone. its a reasonable hotel in case you prefer staying at batu ferrenghi and are not expecting high service standards, else it is advisable to stay in main penang city.
