but we had to leave on the 17th March! We arrived with friends on the 13th of March, they spent the weekend with us, we booked until the 20th. Sadly for everybody we had do deal with MCO. The weekend was fantastic! Restaurants, staff perfect. Just one word it’s Paradise. As soon as is possible we come back! Stay healthy!
Now this hotel has to be one of the best I have ever visited in the world, it’s location in the tropical jungle is absolutely perfect on every count it’s design the view was perfect, our room was everything we expected , lobby area very large staff very pleasant especially Aneyshah. Very polite young lady that never failed to speak or smile. Main restaurant serving breakfast Was good and I have no complaints other than if you booked a table for the evening you never got what they promised , menu was fair but boring saying it was western style. Staff spent far far to much time chatting to empress for tips leaving other guest waiting one evening we waited over 20 minutes for drinks 40 minutes for starters and mains well my wife’s pasta dish was terrible a 5 year old could have cooked better the waitress was so apologetic and concerned bless her she even offered us a free dessert which was good as we were half bored. But she really did try her best. On the beach restaurant tepian laut now here the staff every one were excellent service was 1st class to the young manager but I must speak as high as I can about two staff Safura and Su these two young ladies were excellent I understand Safura is a supervisor she clearly an I employ over 30:people should be a manager and Su a supervisor. Unlike the main restaurant these two chatted but did their work first I never seen one customer waiting. 1st class. Menu was fair but with 12 day stay we struggled but this got better with Safura helping to mix and match with the chef who came out done us some fantastic meals that clearly should be on menu. Beach location fabulous pool clean tidy my opinion to many tress growing in the islands in the pool but overall good some repairs to the paths around the pool Would i return with location yes. With staff as mentioned with out a doubt with menus yes but no more than 7 days
A little slice of paradise, make this the last or only hotel on your stay as you won't want to leave!
WOW, where to start! I have no negatives so I will list the positives: Hotel/Location - The location is idyllic, with a constant murmur of animals/waves. Also means getting anywhere else on the island is at least 30mins away. The hotel is tastefully decorated and have many activities from wildlife walks, cooking classes and snorkelling in their coral nursery. Check-in was quick and easy, and kindly offered an upgrade as we were celebrating my husband's birthday. Room - Lovely and spacious, comfy bed, nice linen and well equipped bathroom with really good shower pressure. Food - OMG, some of the best food I have ever had in a hotel! We ate at the The Japanese Restaurant (Teppanyaki - thanks Chef Alex), Beach Bar and Tepian Laut. The food was simply delicious! Prices reasonable and portions generous. Beach/Pool - Pool area isn't huge but sufficient although no lifeguard. Seabed isn't smooth everywhere as there is a lot of dead coral (from Tsunami) but certainly swimmable and lots of fishes/crabs. Staff - 100%, second to none. The team were truly exceptional, from simple greeting in passing, staff in restaurant areas and chef who came around to see if all was well, it is this attention to detail that really made a difference to us. I would have no hesitation in staying here again. We stayed on border low season/ global Coronavirus pandemic the hotel was at about half occupancy. Whilst I feel that the service would be the same,I'm not sure if I would feel the same if it was busy.
Nice resort. Not luxurious and some may think.
This hotel position on Datai Bay and surrounded by rain forest is what makes this place special. The bedrooms are nice but furniture, tv cabinet etc.. need replacing. All staff are very plesant but require training (mainly) in the restaurants. The restaurants are a real mix. Breakfast is served in nice restaurant. Not massive choice. Beach bar is nice but they need to make this more vibrant. It is dull like the Jala restaurant which is dull and depressing. The Teipan Laut restaurant is by far the best with Malaysian cuisine. There are loads of staff who are lovely but ordering drinks and asking for the bill can involve a wait. I think training would help and to also give them a sense of awareness. This is a very good hotel BUT with improvements could be excellent.
luxury and naure, hand in hand
the real beauty of this wonderful resort is the hidden gem that is the coral nursery and the wonderful young team who engage adults and children in their fantastic work. The team are extremely knowledgeable and involve everyone from very young to very old in their work-to rebuild their coral reef which saved the resort in the 2004 tsunami. The guided snorkel shows you what it could be like again, coral planting will offset your carbon footprint, visit the marine lab to really understand what is going on, and then feed the fish( adults enjoy this more than kids, well I did anyway) I got so much more than I expected from the team, which gave my luxury holiday an unexpected and truely wonderful dimension , that I will always remember Thank you, Addin.Daia,Izzat and Rahman,-the Andaman Coral Team, you truly rock
