Must come now - romantic beach walk. Super Horse riding - and sometimes it feels like you own the whole hotel when you walk on the beach and no one else is there with you - the hotel room looks like a villa from the inside
Great hotel, great location, amazing food, lovely staff
We stopped at this hotel as part of a tour from Kuala Lumpur and were then due to go onto the rainforest (didn't happen - COVID 19!). This was a base for the tour with days out to Gaya island, Mari Mari cultural village and Mount Kinabulu, but I would highly recommend this hotel as a base or as a relaxing holiday. It is situated on the beach - make sure you have a sea view room and you will have great views of the gardens and the beach. There is a nature reserve as part of the hotel - arrange the sunrise walk (but don't book the breakfast package, not worth the cost for some juice and pastries when you get a cracking breakfast at the hotel. At the events desk ask for the sunrise walk without breakfast - even if it's not advertised) Rooms are spacious with a sofa as well as bed and balconies with table and chairs. The pool area was nice- to be honest it was very very quiet when we were there as there were no Chinese or Korean travllers due to corona virus and other visitors lacking too... So not sure how busy it gets at peak times. The food in the hotel is amazing. There is an Indian restaurant, street food restaurant, Italian, buffet and Teppinyaki. They aren't all open every night - in reception is a list of what is open when and what they are serving each night (for instance the buffet does a roast night) - book your table to make sure you get in. During the day the poolside snacks are delicious too. And then the staff.... Amazing!!! Whilst we were there Malaysia went into lockdown. The hotel handled the situation efficiently, sensitively and in such an organised manner. For our last day we were confined to our rooms (not an issue with such a lovely room, great view and sunshine!), but they went out of their way to ensure everyone ordered breakfast the night before and it was delivered to the rooms. They organised other meals to rooms and also checked on everyone. Couldn't have handled it better. We will be back to finish the holiday we didn't get and we will be staying here...
Will not forget the staff singing us a farewell song!
A beautiful resort with lots to offer. Excellent staff, very clean, great service, good food, nice pools, vast beach, nature reserve to explore. Upon our departure, staff members sang us a farewell song! We highly recommend!
Memorable family holiday
My family and I spent an amazing holiday at the Rasa Ria Resort from end February till 6 March this year. Although we were already aware of the excellent reputation of the Shangri La Group we certainly did not realize the extent of the excellence we would find at Rasa Ria. From the moment of our arrival to our departure we were made to feel so welcome and pampered and spoilt by all - from the Reception Team right through to the Housekeeping service - all were extremely efficient, warm, friendly and helpful. As for meals, the breakfast buffet consisted of a vast choice and variety of specialities to suit all tastes - plus special dietary requirements were all provided with pleasure and big smiles!! The choice of different restaurants for the evening meal offered an extensive choice to suit all palates as well - and it was all delicious and authentic. The restaurant, bar and poolside catering staff were incredibly efficient, helpful and friendly - nothing was ever too much trouble for them! Sincere thanks and heartfelt congratulations to all members of the amazing Rasa Ria team who made our stay so awesome!!
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff
We arrived on the 16th March only to have to leave on the 18th owing to the FCO advice and because Malaysia had closed their borders. This basically happened as we arrived on the evening of the 16th. We then spent the whole of the 17th arranging to fly back to the UK. The staff were incredible Nadia and Arween along with so many others assisted us when we were so stressed out. I had very personal family reasons why I wanted to visit Borneo and Unfortunately didnt get to see or do anything. We telephoned our travel agent numerous times asking if it was a good idea to travel and felt quite irresponsible travelling. We paid the price. One day we will return to the Rasa Ria and enjoy the holiday we so wished for and see these wonderful people again. i dont know all of the names, however, I did mention to Fiona the General Manager that her team were a credit and just amazing. Thank you and See you again.
