A west coast hotel that’s located just steps from the sand and the largest lagoon in La Réunion.

It’s all about the views and proximity to the beach and local bars and restaurants at the low-key, good-value Ness by D-Ocean. You’ll also be well placed for island adventures – the top reason to come to La Réunion. Between helicopter trips and 4x4 excursions, you can paddleboard and kayak on the always-inviting Saline-les-Bains, the largest lagoon in the country, which is just steps from the hotel’s infinity pool. And if you can find some time to head to the spa, we highly recommend it. The menu here features signature Gemology and Esthederm massages and treatments that will melt muscles and soothe away stress.

When it comes to the 84 rooms, there’s a choice of mountain, resort or ocean view. With a setting such as this, we would suggest that a sea view is the way to go so recommend a Junior Suite or Senior Rooftop Suite, the latter of which has a Jacuzzi on the verandah. We also love the Rooftop Rooms which look out over the hotel’s gardens and feature a sun-kissed verandah as well as a covered balcony.

There is one main restaurant, and a toes-in-the-sand bar.

Coconut Grove Restaurant
A generous buffet breakfast is served here every morning. Lunch and dinner with a local flavour are served here too, at this restaurant, which overlooks the beach and is shaded by palm trees.

The Sand Bar
Just steps from the beach and the pool, in the middle of a coconut grove, this is the place to head for sunset cocktails and other refreshing drinks.

The small spa is operated in partnership with Paris brand Cinq Mondes and has three treatment rooms (including one for couples) where you can enjoy signature massages and rituals designed to banish stress and ease aching muscles.

The fitness centre is equipped with a range of hi-tech exercise machines.

The hotel provides clear-bottomed kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and snorkelling gear. The 100m² infinity pool faces the lagoon.
