AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE
We stayed at Elsa's Kopje, a magical place in Meru National Park. The whole experience was made very special by all the staff. Zalek was an excellent Manager, very friendly and interesting, and he was supported by a great team from Jane in Reception, through to the Restaurant Manager, Chef and Bar Staff and all those working to keep the rooms and grounds so beautifully and the guards keeping the camp safe. Our guide, George, was so knowledgeable, and made our game drives memorable. Wonderful bush breakfasts and sundowner drinks. A fabulous infinity pool and amazing rooms, every one different but all with great character. A truly fabulous place to stay.
In the heart of Meru National park
The place is breathtaking....out of your usual. The drive makes it more enjoyable. They are eco friendly hence you wont see plastic bottles and all. They provide an eco friendly water bottle to every guest which is a plus. Food is AMAZING! The staff were very friendly and the rates in Jan were really fair
A room with a view, and what a view.
All the individual cottages are built on an old (volcanic) outcrop. Each one is individual. Ours had a large sleeping area, a little balcony with table and chairs, and a massive on-suit space. The whole thing on several levels because of the rock where it was built. Crazy and special at the same time. The original vegetation of the hill have been kept where possible, so you walk in between the original shrubs and trees of the hill as you go from your cottage to the restaurant. The paths are not easy going and there are a lot of steps, but really worth it. The restaurant is open to the outside world, looking over a small lawn, and the swimming pool. The food is great. Each day something different, even though there is not much choice. The staff really look after you. The managers always welcome you back from the game drives and make sure everything is as it should be. We had a really excellent massage while we were there. Fantastic stay.
Marvellous Meru !!!!!
We stayed at Elsa's Kopje in Meru National Park from the 18th Sept to 20th Sept 2019. On arrival at the Airstrip we were greeted by our Guide & Driver Wilson ,with his Trainee Benson, the Dynamic Duo I called them, they greeted us with a Cold Beverage & some light snacks...never been greeted like this on ANY safari ( And I have been on Many )...not at the Airport ...Class act. We drove to our Camp through the Park seeing many animals on the way, on Arrival we were greeted & Briefed by Zarek, the Manager , a very fine & knowledgeable young Man , who actually camped in this Park in his earlier days, & knew lots about the Wildlife there. The place has 8 cottages that have been built on this Rocky Hill ,& all the rooms have been incorporated into the rock ,No two rooms are alike. we had a beautiful room facing the Park & got to see the Glorious Sunrise from our Bed each Morning. The Food & Game Drives were just amazing saw all but the Leopard here...the food was all 3 course Meals & all Gourmet Food, it also has an Infinity Pool overlooking the Plains Of Meru. We also got to see some Fantastic Sunsets on our Sundowner Evening Drives, they would ask what we would like for our Sundowner's each day.A special thanks to my Bar Buddies Morris & Ephantus ,who always made sure my Glass was Full. Thanks to the Chef ,forget his name & all the staff there , truly a great Bunch & Zarek sure runs the place like a well oiled Machine...It was difficult saying Bye to all these wonderful people,,,,thanks again
I 'wana go back
The experience at Elsa's Kopje was great! We were fortunate enough to fly into the dirt landing strip right next to the camp where our guide, Moses picked us up. Moses was a wonderful, friendly and very informative guide. He catered to everything we wanted to do and see. We had room 4, which was very close to the main lobby. The room was two stories, with the sleeping area upstairs and the bathroom downstairs. Its built into the side of the mountain, so the natural elements are very cool. One thing I wish I knew prior is that it is very hot in Meru. There isn't much relief at night as the wind doesn't blow through the tent as you might expect. So, plan for this. The dining and bar area was also very nice, where Joel and Morris took excellent care of us. The food here was excellent. Additionally, I had a massage. The massage room is open over the side of the mountain and there were monkeys hanging around and a bush buck walked by during my massage. The nature element was so unique and cool! The climate and scenery here was so different than the other places I stayed during the trip. Overall, it was a great experience and I'd recommend staying here if you'd like to experience different climates, animals and terrain than some of the other areas in Kenya.
