In terms of luxury, this camp is hard to beat. The outlook is amazing as is the staff, especially Benjamin and Alex who really made our stay special. The food was superb. Our guide Moses tried his best to locate the 60 or so cats in the area, but due to unseasonable rain the grass was in parts over 2 metres high making animal spotting (apart from elephants) very difficult. The view from the pool is very special. The acting Manager, Moses also did a great job. This would be a great camp if is wasn’t not for the unseasonal rain which made spotting and driving on water soaked very difficult. There is a lot of history with this camp and makes you want to watch “Born Free” again.
Beautiful and remote
This was our first stop in a four-camp safari in Kenya. From the moment the plane landed, we knew that we were in a special place. Our excellent guide Moses was there to greet us and his keen eye and really pleasant personality was a real asset throughout our visit. Tonny, the manager, upgraded us to room #1, a larger size with a stunning view. Food prepared by Chef Philip was excellent and service throughout was great. I do think Elewana should invest some money in further upgrades however. Screens had holes, the room’s white decor had lots of marks and signs of squashed bugs. Looking at the big picture though, we really enjoyed our stay. Game drives were surprisingly interesting and productive especially given the weather and we left with lots of good memories.
AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE
We stayed at Elsa's Kopje, a magical place in Meru National Park. The whole experience was made very special by all the staff. Zalek was an excellent Manager, very friendly and interesting, and he was supported by a great team from Jane in Reception, through to the Restaurant Manager, Chef and Bar Staff and all those working to keep the rooms and grounds so beautifully and the guards keeping the camp safe. Our guide, George, was so knowledgeable, and made our game drives memorable. Wonderful bush breakfasts and sundowner drinks. A fabulous infinity pool and amazing rooms, every one different but all with great character. A truly fabulous place to stay.
In the heart of Meru National park
The place is breathtaking....out of your usual. The drive makes it more enjoyable. They are eco friendly hence you wont see plastic bottles and all. They provide an eco friendly water bottle to every guest which is a plus. Food is AMAZING! The staff were very friendly and the rates in Jan were really fair
A room with a view, and what a view.
All the individual cottages are built on an old (volcanic) outcrop. Each one is individual. Ours had a large sleeping area, a little balcony with table and chairs, and a massive on-suit space. The whole thing on several levels because of the rock where it was built. Crazy and special at the same time. The original vegetation of the hill have been kept where possible, so you walk in between the original shrubs and trees of the hill as you go from your cottage to the restaurant. The paths are not easy going and there are a lot of steps, but really worth it. The restaurant is open to the outside world, looking over a small lawn, and the swimming pool. The food is great. Each day something different, even though there is not much choice. The staff really look after you. The managers always welcome you back from the game drives and make sure everything is as it should be. We had a really excellent massage while we were there. Fantastic stay.
