Don’t hesitate, book a stay.
We recently went back to Elsa’s for a second stay because it’s that kind of place - it makes you long to return. Our particular attraction to Meru National Park and Elsa’s in particular, is it’s connection to the George & Joy Adamson legacy. However even if that’s not meaningful to you, Elsa’s Kopje is still second-to-none. Beyond the amazing views, exquisite amenities, unique geography and precious wildlife, what really makes this lodge stand out are the people. Andrew and his team are outstanding and their warmth and professionalism makes Elsa’s special. We also have to mention that the Chef, Philip, is particularly fantastic. We are vegans and live in a city (Vancouver) that has some of the best vegan restaurants in the world. Philip’s vegan offerings were amazing and of equal high standard. We did a special day-trip to Kora National Park to visit George Adamson’s Kampi Ya Simba (only recommended for die-hard Adamson fans as it’s a long, hot drive), and the Elsa’s team effortlessly put together the logistics to make that happen for us. If you need further convincing: the cute little wild hyraxes that call Elsa’s home are adorable and hilarious; falling asleep to the call of Lions is something you will never forget; the views of the savannah from your cottage will make your heart burst.
Unique, magical experience. Faultless.
I had planned a safari holiday for my mum to fulfil her lifelong wish. Whilst in Meru national park we stayed at Elsa’s lodge for two nights. We were initially greeted by Andrew the lodge manager with a very warm welcome and we were both instantly amazed by the uniqueness of this accommodation. The attention to detail from all of the staff was second to none and nothing was too much bother. Views from the room were truly incredible, looking out over the Meru national park we were able to see elephants and giraffes from bed upon waking in the morning. After staying in other highly recommended hotels around the world, none compare to Elsa’s kopje lodge Meru. The genuine attentiveness and caring attitude from the staff combined with the location, fantastic views and excellent food made for a truly perfect experience. I can not praise or thank the staff enough for helping us make life long memories.

Reality Far Surpasses Nostalgia
16 years ago, on our first trip to Africa our travel agent booked us into Elsa’s Kopje for three exceptional marvelous days. Since then we have traveled extensively around the world, stopping in all types of hotels including some of which have been rated among the world’s finest. Yet there was only one that I very much wanted to return to - Elsa’s Kopje. This year we had the opportunity to return and I wondered if the reality would live up to the nostalgic memories. Reality surpassed nostalgic memories. It was all that I remembered and more. The atmosphere, the grounds, the staff, the food, the game drives, the vistas all merge into a wonderful experience. “It doesn’t get better than this.”
The accommodations at Elsa's may be a bit more rustic that some travellers are accustomed to, but they are absolutely lovely! The staff, taking their lead from their manager Andrew, are wonderful. And, I cannot say enough about the meals prepared by Chef Phillip. The guides are extremely knowledgeable. Overall, a top-notch experience. Highly recommended.
