Great way to start your safari adventure!
This was the first of 5 camps we visited when we were recently in Kenya. It somehow manages to blend the city of Nairobi nearby with an oasis filled with tons of lions, rhinos, and all sorts of other wildlife. We got time to get used to bumping around in the safari vehicle and taking a safari shower at this camp! Our guide was fantastic, going out of his way to get us close to lions right at the start of our journey. The tent was a pleasant surprise, having not been a camping family ourselves. I think I saw more bugs at the giraffe manor than here, honestly. It felt like luxury accommodations somehow located in the middle of nature. We were one of only a few people at camp when we stayed in March 2022, but we never felt awkward wandering around. This camp helps you forget about the outside world, while still providing Wi-Fi.
Right in the park! Accommodating staff!
It's nice to have a tented camp option for Nairobi National Park. Gordon was my guide and did an outstanding job of maneuvering the vehicle, spotting wildlife and knowing angles for lighting and putting the skyline of Nairobi in the background. Rooms were comfortable, food was great. What really impressed me was how the staff all pitched in to help locate one of the suni antelopes that live in the forest near the camp and often hang out at the camp. With only an hour before I had to check out and just a single glimpse of one scampering male suni, it looked like I might miss out on this rare antelope that frequented the camp. Then, as I was packing up to leave, there was a knock at my door. Would I like to go behind the staff tents to see the suni? Of course I would! Two camp staff members escorted me to a pair of suni that I would never have located on my own. The female remained visible for photos. It was a trip highlight! The staff knew what was important to me and went above and beyond to accommodate.
A very good place for a short stay
The camp is situated in the Nairobi National Park and is surrounded by trees. The park is very close to the city but it feels like a thousand miles away as the park is full of wildlife, including lions, rhino and giraffes. The camp is spacious with each tent very private and large. Food is very good and plentiful. Service is excellent. David our guide made sure we saw everything the park has to offer and was a knowledgable companion. The Nairobi Tented Camp is an ideal place to start a safari in Kenya, with a relaxing stay after a long journey.
Arrived on the overnight Kenya Airways flight and straight out on safari. Very comfortable tent ( No 4) and George looked after us at the camp site extremely well. Sylvester was our guide and we caught his excitement too when spotting 3 cheetah among lots of other animals and birds. Our time seemed to go so quickly - thank you for making our stay memorable !
