old school luxury
We were not lucky with the weather, but in the end we did get a glimpse of Mt Kenya. The resort itself was fantastic. We received an upgrade to a William Holden Cottage and this was brilliant for our family of 4. Could have stayed for a few weeks. Food was great as well as the service. The concierge with a bowler hat was a nice touch! Horse riding safari very highly recommended. Downside: there was a loud corporate event going on during our stay and this took some of the shine off our stay.
Step Foot on the Equator!
WOW were to even start - the Mt Kenya Safari club is stunning; a magical paradise in North Kenya! The grounds are absolutely stunning - there's a maze, activities, birds (especially peacocks everywhere)....baboons and variety of other monkeys too! The rooms are gorgeous and spacious and the food was fantastic! The staff was also very friendly and had a great time teaching us Swahili during the slower season. We appreciated that since we love to fit in as much as we can traveling while also being respectful of the culture Not to mention the animal orphanage is a MUST stop too!
Luxury on the Equator
I first stayed here in the '70's, now much changed ,but the location is still unique. Now more of an up to date luxury location ,great service ,food and accommodation. Would have loved to stay longer than our two nights
A class apart
Without question, this is one of the most amazing hotels I have ever stayed in. it truly is a gem of a hotel. The magnificent property is stunning from all areas. The hospitality is second to none. There are many activities that guests can take part in to keep themselves entertained. They have an animal orphanage inside the hotel which is really something special. A memorable experience. Breakfast was one of the best things about this hotel. The chef's really did a fantastic job. Few areas of suggestions - there was no cheese for breakfast - rooms should have fans for some circulation
A great place to recover from jet lag before heading out to our Safari Location
The rooms and patios of the hotel are stunning. Just being there is a pleasure with all the art work and style. How delightful the bar is with stylish African decor. I sat there during the day to sketch with a cappuccino. The Sunday buffet was extravagant and delicious. The employees were all very helpful and friendly. The view, the monkeys and birds, and pool make it a special African experience.
