I stayed at the Fairmount as part of a safari itinerary. Package had i known how beautiful it was I would have stayed longer. The staff the food and the hotel itself was absolutely wonderful. The view Mt Kenya was spectacular early morning and sparlked with the sunlight.Think old style hollywood/plantation house glamour with a modern twist just WOW xx
Main aim was to relax and re-energise and with a direct view of My.Kenya from the room as well as the Bar, I was definitely in the right place. The food is great and the servings mainly snacks at the Bar is huge( couldn’t even finish my Caesar salad). The staff are friendly and professional and always willing to help. Please visit the Animal orphanage adjacent to the club. NB: The place can get chilly at night so be prepared even though they lift fires in the bar and cottages.
Great Christmas Day lunch, entertainment and service!!!
My family and I took the 3.5 hour drive from Nairobi to the Mount Kenya Safari Club for Christmas Day lunch, entertainment, service and relaxation for the day and we were not disappointed. Our reception at the main gate, entrance and reception were very friendly and smooth. We had made the lunch reservation a week earlier and everyone was expecting our arrival. We were ushered to our table and we enjoyed the various courses of our meal and the accompanying drinks. The food was quite tasty and fresh. There was also a great live band which serenaded the food and drink down our throats. We then retreated to the grounds for a walk passing through the little church, the fishing pond and the maze and ending up at the pool area for afternoon relaxation and chatting with family. The views of Mount Kenya were also quite good from the hotel on a warm and sunny Christmas Day. This was indeed a fantastic way to spend our Christmas Day. Well done to the hotel team for hosting us and looking forward to returning in the future for a longer stay and some golf. Highly recommended.
Great stay at the Mount Kenya Safari Club
My family of five stayed at the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari club in two connecting rooms in the Riverside suites. The room set up worked very well for my family. The customer service at the hotel was great. There was a discrepancy between the rate that they had and the rate that I was provided which I had in writing (printed off) and they honoured my lower rate. The rate that I had was a mistake (to my benefit) but the hotel did the right thing. This is a sign of a good hotel. Upon reading some of the previous reviews about the food I was a little bit concerned. We were on a meal plan that included the buffet breakfast, lunches and dinner. We usually do not like buffets but the breakfasts and lunch buffets were both excellent. The reason that they were so good was they had stations that changes each day. The reasons that most buffets are not good is that food is left out and is not fresh. If you have a station that prepares fresh food it is a game changer. At breakfast, you had your typical omelette station and pancake stations but at lunch you would also have a station that would make you fresh stir fry, crepes and other fresh meals. Although the dinners were not bad, they were not as good as the breakfasts or lunchs. The main reason for this is that there were not fresh stations at dinner and it was your more typical buffet. My suggestion would be to add in stations at dinner as well. During our stay we went to both the animal orphanage (on site) and we did an afternoon safari drive at Ol Pejeta (from 2-7pm). Both were arranged through the hotel and both were excellent. The orphanage was special as you were able to play with some of the animals which was great for the kids. The animals are mainly rescues and for the most part are not caged in so it is very different than a zoo. Ol Pejeta was great as they specialize in Rhinos which we wanted to see and are not typically found in Masai Mara were we went to next. Overall we were glad we stayed at the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club on our first stop in Kenya. We really enjoyed the pool, the customer service, the orphanage and Ol Pejeta. It exceeded my expectations and I would recommend the hotel.
