Wonderful and heaven-like accommodation
We spent 5 nights at this wonderful place. Starting with a personal welcoming with music and drinks, we felt immediately like at home. The people at the Kinondo Kwetu are all so helpful and kind. Everybody seems happy to work there and wants to do everything for the guests. The menu's are awesome and also easily prepared vegan/vegetarian. Also for breakfast are vegan options such as vegan pancakes, porridge or scrambled eggs. We eat almost every evening at another spot and got to know a lot of beautiful places through this. At it also was all the time very intimate to be with max. 1-3 other tables. The property is so large and offers so much opportunities to swim, relax and unwind. And since there are just a few amount of cottages and rooms, it is never crowded and always beautiful spots to relax. The cottage had air-condition, mosquito-net and lots of space. Everything was clean and functioned well. The cottage was always prepared for the night. The own terrace had direct view on pool, beach and sea. From Kinondo Kwetu it is very nice to go for a walk on the beach. There is also a nice gym, yoga platform and even tennis field. On minus point for us was, that yoga lessons or workouts with guide additional cost. Beside the property is the staff the biggest plus at Kinondo Kwetu. Everybody, from management to service personal, is soooo friendly. They are greating you and talking to you (if you want to talk). They are really interested in you and want to make your stay as wonderful as possible. We felt so welcome and not as tourists. We can absolutely recommend this place to everybody!!!
Exceptional 5 nights…loved it.
What terrific hospitality! The entire team are just top notch. The food was great and creative. I still think about the focaccia served at lunch. Everywhere you look the antiques and decor are just beautiful. There are lovely pools and a very comfortable beautiful guest room without question…what makes this so special are the people…Fred the owner, Ana and Philipa they are all just lovely. The staff makes sure you are well taken care of. They are both friendly and very service oriented. I am so happy we made the choice to end our trip here. We also had a wonderful massage and boat trip to snorkel. I will miss the gift shop where I bought fabric for pillows at home. There are beautiful pillows everywhere…also they surprise you for dinner with a different location every night. We just loved our stay here…don’t miss it!
Don’t leave Kenya without staying here
This boutique hotel is a gem! The accommodations were luxurious with our suite and veranda was right on the ocean! The lilting waves and open door sleeping was exactly what we needed after a vigorous safari and gorilla trek. It was so romantic with candlelight dinners on the beach! Bonfires on the beach for cocktails! Delicious food beautifully prepared. Fabulous service by a well trained friendly hardworking staff. Ana the manager with the assistance of Phillipa would do anything to make your stay the best! Fred one of the owners really was so charming, warm and delightful! My husband said more than once how he wished we lived closer! The two pools were lovely! They live up to their goal they make you feel like family! Don’t leave Kenya without staying here! Pauline gives a great massage by the ocean !
Family visit to an amazing place
We (2 adults, 2 children 12 and 15) spent 6 nights to relax after our safari. The information and photos on the internet had set high expectations, but our experience surpassed those. The generous park-like setting with many trees full with birds and monkeys is marvelous, the buildings and rooms are exceptionally well designed and influenced by traditional, local styles, decorated with African art, but with modern comfort and much attention to detail. The staff, headed by Anna, was overwhelming in how much they cared, considered our wishes, repositioned the locations of our meals, surprised us with cocktails during the day and invited artists and musicians. The place with its two pools, sandy beach and comfortable furniture are already a good basis for spending days there. We made good use of the morning gym classes (facing the ocean) and sea kayaks, and other local activities would also have been available. Trips to Diani Beach are further away and require transportation. We consider ourselves lucky to be able to come here during the pandemic, and the staff made us feel safe at all times. On the last day, we had the opportunity to meet the Andersson family and were amazed to hear that they conceptualized Kinondo Kwetu by themselves and how much they care about their employees and the people in the village nearby. We will never forget how welcome we felt at this oasis and the lovely people we met!
A private oasis!
Everything about Kinondo is exceptional. The staff is attentive, especially Anna, the food is delicious, and the location is beautiful. Our kids (14,11,8) enjoyed the pool, horseback riding, and playing on the beach. A perfect spot to relax and spend time together as a family.
