Sarova Mara is in a breath taking environment with super fresh air. They offer excellent services, clean tents, good food and the staff are so hospitable. We were given an opportunity to plant a tree which was so fulfilling being a lover of environment.
Great Hotel, Amazing Staff, tasty food, super comfortable & spacious tent - Strongly Recommend!
We stayed in Sarova Mara Game Camp in November 2020 and i have to say it was amazing experience. Great food, helpful staff, comfortable and charming tents (we stayed in the superior/bigger tent) and most of all safe in terms of Covid (what may be important for many) i.e. all measurements met like checking temperature, disinfection, wearing masks etc. Really big thanks to you Guys for making our stay special and beautiful!
Ive had an amazing stay overall, from great food, friendly staff and good rooms. My highlight was the Tulia Spa massage with Anna- Best massage I've ever Had with swedish, hot stone therapy. Thank you again for the wonderful stay.
Best VIP experience ever
We loved the Club Tent. Amazing, clean, beautiful view. The staff treated us like VIP from Day 1 to the last. Very near Sekenani gate. The manager, Dancun is very warm. We also got to plant a tree and named it. Anne at the spa does an amazing job! Mohamed at the bar is also one of the best. Food is awesome and fresh! Just loved it!
Sad & Disappointing
With a heavy heart will have to say farewell to Sarova Mara, after a continuous visit of more than 15 years, sometimes up to 3 times in a year. Sadly the quality has just gotten worse over the years. Repeated complaints have fallen kn deaf ears, and I have watched quality and class slip through like a sieve. Constant change of lodge managers hasn't helped. Have seen the old replaced with the new, the garden take shape, and the renovations, but, there's an old adage, "dont judge a book by its cover", and evennif the context is not appropriate, it truly applies to Sarova Mara. Yes covid has hit tourism hard, but the lodge has been at almost peak capacity since July 2020 and the problems persist. So there is no excuse. The festive period was madness. Coming after it one would think the errors would have been addressed, and dealing with much fewer guests the services would be spot on. Far from it!! One thing Sarova has always been known for as a brand is it warm welcome, the staff, the grounds & the food. This is what made it stand out from the rest. Sadly a tourism establishment cannot just run on good gardens and friendly front desk staff. The food has taken a nose dive faster than ever. Consistent cock-ups with food, vegetarians being served meat, horrible breakfast, disorder & chaos during meal times, lack of wait-staff, dirty & tired crockery, oil on the salt shakers, sticky cup handles, to food that a 3-star property would be ashamed of. The rooms though new are dirty. Imagine checking in to finding they have not flushed the previous guys use of the toilet!!!! The blankets all touch the floor, which is dusty & full of dead insects. Constant feedback forms filled with issues raised seem to have been ignored. Focus is now on mass booking, mass revenue, mass food. Its no longer a lodge/tented camp of the standard its co-founders had dreams of. Not to mention the location now being compromised by huge developments around the mara, cattle grazing in the park, pushing wildlife further away, but that is not in the direct control of Sarova. What is however is the food quality, the training if waitstaff the cleanliness of utensils & crockery, the cleanliness if the rooms, in interaction of lodge/camp management with the guests, this is in their control & sadly wanting. To the new traveller and visitor my hope is that they take heed, pull up their socks and deliver to you the magic that they once had. Be careful if your vegetarian or a foodie, cos Sarova Mara fails to deliver and now there are much better places out there in the mara. To the repeat Mara traveller and or Sarova fan, I urge you, try out some of the numerous other properties out there who do a much much better job. Food, staff, quality of sleep, services and exposure to the wild animals in the Maasai Mara are key to anyone coming to the mara. Sadly Sarova Mara fails in all. So the Sarova management who read this, i am happy for the hordes of new visitors you get, but remember they come on the strength of booking agents, and with time they will see the shortcomings. My complaint may stand out as a rant that doesn't bother u, but having seen over 15 years the camp and in the last 3 years seen it fail so bad, I hope you take heed, so u can retain the glory of years 2011 to 2017. Ps..the therapist Anna, the only saving grace this time around.
