Truly A Life Highlight
My husband and I were so very sad to leave the Il Moran Camp after a 3-day visit—we just loved it so much! There's no comparison to the abundance on animal life on the Masai Mara during the great wildebeest migration, and Governor's Camp knows how to do it right. The food is excellent, luxury tents beautifully situated on the shore of the river, and service impeccable. We also took a hot air balloon ride during sunrise, which will be a life highlight. Certainly one of the top hotels I would recommend anywhere around the world!
A perfect wilderness experience
This is our 6th visit to IlMoran and about the 18th to Governors camps. It is the best, most authentic safari experience of all ( and we have done may in RSA ). All the big 5 are on the doorstep, I think because this is the first camp ever created in the Mara. Tents are really great, food is fine but not high end, ambience is outstanding. No pools, no gyms, just a perfect and luxurious wilderness
The Holiday Of A Lifetime
We had 4 days at Governors and could not have asked for more. From the welcome from Patrick to the fabulous food by Lillian and team, the protection of the guards, especially Stephen! Eveone there was polite, courteous but more importantly friendly and caring. But without our guide Paul we would not have seen so much and he was simply amazing. Above and beyond the guides we've had before. Tents are luxurious, food exceptional, peaceful environment (You get used to the hippos!). You are safe but not made to feel uncomfortable as the guards are discreet but always there. Thank you all. Rosie and "Mr Ian"!
Can't Wait to Come Back!!
If I could live here, I would. My husband and I had such an amazing experience at Governor Moran II. The staff, the food, the accommodations, everything was just spectacular. Also not to mention the small reason you came, the wildlife, I cannot even describe all the wonderful things we saw, everyday was something new and jaw dropping. Also I can't count how many times my expectations were just blown out of the water, we saw the big 5 and so much more!! Governor Moran II will do just about anything they can in their power to accommodate you and give you a memorable and wonderful stay, but the thing I appreciated the most is they follow the rules and respect the animals and that is hard to find!! They'll give you a holiday you won't ever forget! There are so many camps to choose from but this is one you won't regret your stay, we can't wait to come back!! While you can't expect to see the same stuff as someone else the stuff we had so many close calls, our guide would pull up with some distance and turn the car off and sometimes a lioness will just casually walk by your truck like nothing and just lay down behind it. Or you're driving around and you look up and there's a Leopard in a tree with her antelope she caught earlier. Make sure you book at least 4 days here, it will give you the opportunity to see a little bit of everything. I think our favorite part was picking our sunset drink at lunch and after our afternoon safari we would pull over somewhere beautiful, cheers with something refreshing and watch the animals scurrying around getting ready for nightlife on safari as the sunset in the background. Also be sure to check with the office and schedule a visit to the local Maasai Mara village, it's $30 per person but so worth the visit to see how they live and watch some of their traditions, we learned so much from them and you help to educate the Maasai children with that money.
Other reviews say it all. Exceptional place, couldn’t have wished for anything more from any member of the team. The tents were amazing with special touches provided by the team like a hot water bottle in your bed at night and being woken up with coffee and home made biscuits to set you up until breakfast, regularly refilled fridge of beer, wine and soft drinks topped off by amazing food provided by Lillian and her team. Phillipe was first class in the bar and knows how to pour his drinks, every team member deserves a special thanks for making our experience one of a life time. Bucket list experience that was fulfilled in every way topped off by a balloon flight over the fabulous masi Maasai Mara reserve. Now to the wildlife, never in our wildest dreams did we envisage the sights and variety of species we were able to see, phenomenal to see these up close and in their own environments. We will be forever grateful to Simon for sharing his knowledge of 30years plus in a few short days. He never tired of our questions and delivered on the big 5 wish list. He went over and above to ensure we were having the best experience possible. He will remain in our memories forever along with the the rest of the team. Anyone thinking of doing this, spend the kids inheritance and go with them to create a lifetime of memories. Outstanding experience from beginning to end.
