Super friendly staff, top location, luxurious room. The interior space is indeed grand. The breakfast food and setting were excellent. The food in the restaurant is excellent. We had a perfect lunch and dinner. Our lovely room opened out onto the main street in Sienna and unfortunately, the noise from the street was disturbing into the wee hour.
Some reviews say the rooms are outdated and that's true, but this hotel is BEAUTIFUL and the rooms are very spacious and quaint. Our room windows opened to the beautiful Siena roofline. The location was excellent. Getting there with a car is challenging. All the concierge were amazing and super helpful.
Great location but dated
We have been in Siena for 3 days and walked every street (or so it feels) on arrival at the Grand there was a feeling of ‘hang over’ from cost cutting measures during Covid. Building is ‘grand’ but breakfast certainly isn’t. They still serve coffee in silver jugs, which burns your fingers and is outdated in 2022. The breakfast is minimal, served in dated dingy rooms. Am very surprised that they serve a buffet style. Staff are wearing masks, and seem tired. Our room 320 was at the back of the building, thank God as Friday nights are noisy in the streets. Our room was ok, dated but the view stretching out to the hills is spectacular. We had the room with red curtains. At over 500 pounds Sterling, it is very pricey. The hotel needs an overhaul. E.g. bathroom shower gels etc are all different brands, and stuck on wall, in cheap plastic containers. I think this hotel had a glorious past, it needs someone to come in and sort it out. 1500 pounds for 3 days is a lot for a good view! Food at breakfast is not good, and served very badly. Def get better in cafes on the square. I hate to give such a poor review, but management needs a heads up!
Expensive but worth it for the location
Very enjoyable stay. Super friendly staff, top location, luxurious room. Hotel photos perhaps overstate things a bit. You don’t actually see most of what the photos show (maybe it’s just of the suites) but still recommended. Pricey but as the only 5 star in the centre of Siena they can charge more.
Excellent Responsive Concierge Staff, Good Location, Rooms Disappointing
We arrived later in the evening and we had a group with 4 rooms reserved. The rooms were not configured as we requested (e.g. Kings set up instead of twins) so that was a hassle . The rooms themselves were not very elegant but comfortable enough. The view from the windows in the room were simply all cement , walk up terrace was tiny and not really usable. The service at the lobby bar was very tepid (one person serving that was hard to even locate at 8 pm), the breakfast room was lovely but when we arrived for breakfast all of the buffet items (eggs, bacon etc.) were all virtually or completely 'empty'....there seemed to be only one person serving everyone and attempting to manage the buffet . The location of the hotel was great and prior to our arrival the concierge staff was SUPER helpful with restaurant reservations !
