Video Review of the Castel Monastero - My rating is 5 of 5. Read why. Review of Castel Monastero I made a high-quality video review of the Castel Monastero. You can check it out on my YouTube channel, High Standard Vacations. I talk about the hotel and the surrounding area. The Castel Monastero Resort Is a thousand-year-old castle located near Siena in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. This resort is a member of the leading hotels of the world. The luxurious rustic decor is absolutely charming. You feel like you’re transported back to the medieval times but with modern-day 5-star convenience and comfort. The staff is extremely friendly and make you feel very welcome. We had a prestige room which comes with a small lounge area. The rooms are elegantly designed and quite spacious. Castel Monastero Resort has 2 restaurants on the property - Contrada and La Cantina and they are both excellent. The property has a pool area with 3 pools and a gym. There is also a spa on the resort and is literally the best spa I have ever been to. This spa is equipped with an elegant steam room and sauna. There is also a beautifully designed extra-large jacuzzi. My favorite part of the spa was the salt pool. Our stay at the Castel Monastero Resort was incredible and highly highly recommend staying there if you plan to visit Tuscany.
Roomy and Serene
Lots of space in very comfortably appointed rooms. Serene setting with a 3 level pool. Outstanding breakfast buffet, and very attentive staff. Great place to relax after daily tours of nearby vineyards and castles.
Top Notch facility and service
We were so pleased with our stay. We arrived very tired due to travel from the States. Denise helped us check in and get settled. Our room was very spacious with his and hers closets, a big bathroom and comfortable bed. It was very quiet and everything appeared almost new. WiFi worked very well. Convenient location to many Tuscany villages. Service is their shining star. From the moment we drove up we were pampered. Valets took care of the car and the luggage appeared in my room by magic. Everyone was most hospitable. My wife struggled with fatigue and Denise took a special interest in making her visit special. (I mention her name as she took an interest in our satisfaction). There were others in the staff too, all helpful and friendly. Everyone spoke good English. Service was fast too. Don’t order coffee from room service before you get your pants (LOL). They were responsive. Food was good but we often ate offsite. The Cantina was exceptional with a good variety and tasty food. The high end restaurant was too much for what we needed. Showers worked well after we learned how to use them but they were sort of complicated. Pool and spa were beautiful but we spent our time elsewhere. Hard to go wrong here. 😎
Quick Stay on Honeymoon
The property is a renovated 11th century monastery and truly beautiful. We chose this location for the last 2 nights of our honeymoon, mostly for it's great location - not too far from Florence Airport, but also close to Siena, Chianti and other regions. The breakfast buffet is in a beautiful courtyard and we dined twice at La Cantina, the restaurant on site. The food was great! Although we had a small room, it was recently updated for a lovely mix of 11th century charm with a modern spin. The only reason I give this place 4/5 stars is because we weren't acknowledged in any way for choosing this location as part of our honeymoon. It would have been nice to have been upgraded or at least welcomed, as all the other hotels did. While every staff member was nice to us, there was something off about the service, almost as if there was a sense of nervousness in the air. Overall, as an LGBTQ Couple we felt safe and welcomed and I would recommend this to other couples of all types. However, if you plan to stay for multiple nights, you'll want to make some dinner plans elsewhere too!
Perfect hotel at a price
Beautiful, idyllic setting. Everything about this place is just lovely. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights and ate in the hotel for breakfast and 2 dinners. It is expensive! So be prepared.. The only disappointment for us is that we knew there was a spa, but we weren’t told it would be €40 each to use the facilities! Or you can have a treatment and use the facilities - though the treatments are more expensive than I’ve ever seen anywhere in the world! I’d also have liked tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Other than that it’s a real treat!
