This is really a gorgeous hotel with exceptional views everywhere. The breakfast buffet was arranged to minimize contact between food and guest. I thought it quite clever using food carts to serve each table, the waiters were fabulous. I love my room with a view and didn't have any problems.
Entered the room we noticed that in the shower there were tubes of soap and shampoo visibly already used and some exhausted in the soap holder of the shower and the presence of hair in the sink. We immediately reported the incident to reception and asked them to ensure that the bathroom in the room had actually been cleaned. When we returned to the room we no longer found the used tubes, but the sink had not been cleaned. My GF took a shower and after a few minutes noticed that the water was not flowing properly from the drain, causing a semi-flooding of the floor. She moved the plug and found a piece of used tampon. I rushed to the reception desk to complain about the incident despite having been warned in advance. The hotel manager, firstly, reprimanded me for complaining in the lobby and not in a whisper elsewhere in the hotel. Secondly - without ever hearing an apology - I was given the option of getting a refund and leaving the hotel. I replied that I did not want any refund, but that I demanded to be treated properly for the service I had paid for (200 Euro/night). The manager then sent the maid. After less than a minute she told us that she had already cleaned the bathroom. Two days after, at the check out the hotel asked me to pay for the extras (69.50 Euros), which I paid regularly. The manager, whom I met a few hours later, asked me if we had "recovered" our stay from the bathroom incident. I replied that who had to recover was the hotel, and not us, from the discomfort that had created and that I would expect that at least the extras were given as a sign of respect and as a courtesy to remedy the incident. The director responded: "then it means that you are not the right customers for this hotel. It's a question of feeling, of approach to life in facing and overcoming things"! She also continued to say “no one has ever complained about our hotel”. So not only did I pay 200 euros a night plus extras, but instead of an apology for the incident, I was insulted about my psychological approach to life, according to the very personal opinion of the hotel manager.
Loved our stay in this hotel
The view, location, service were all brilliant. The pool was also a real treat for the kids. The view and pool side service were also excellent. My kids and I had the most amazing 7 nights away at this hotel. I highly recommend it and will be back next year
We stayed for three nights and were delighted with our room, the fabulous views of the sea and Etna. All the staff were lovely - helpful and polite High quality bedding. Great air con The pool was very nice, the lunches at the pool fresh and of high quality. It is definitely in the very best location in Taormina. We would highly recommend
A beautiful place, with fantastic food.
We stayed at the Excelsior Palace a while ago, in September, and had a lovely time. The Hotel has a fantastic pool, excellent food, and is also conveniently located close to the town centre. We really enjoyed our holiday.
