Great location but rooms average
We spent two nights on different occasions at the RR. It has a very central location, halfway between the Roman Amphitheatre and the Duomo. Reception warm. However it’s the rooms and corridors which disappoint. The corridors are a dark green brown, and the rooms similar. Our second room had the smallest of windows onto a courtyard and was extremely gloomy. So it wasn’t a particularly nice environment in which to spend time.
Nice Hotel in Heart of Lecce
Great location, right off the main square and close to all good restaurants and shops. Even though this hotel has a five star rating, I felt it was closer to a four. Nice room, but nothing special. Breakfast was good but, we had to look for a waiter all the time and they charged for eggs, when you could get a waiter to order. Two mornings they forgot the wake up call. However, it was easy to overlook because of the location, which could not be better.
Perfect location, needs some work
The location could not be better - it is right in the center of the old town. It is a very easy walk to the Roman amphitheater, all the churches and the castle. The staff is great - very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast is just OK. Our room was large and very red. Some of the electronics are updated, but some other things seem a bit dated, such as decorating and furnishings. Our room was large, but the bathroom was smaller than you would expect from the size of the room. We had a couch that was not even usable as it had no back cushion and we had to lean against a wooden shelf. The hallway and rooms smelled like they had been “perfumed” - like it was covering an odor. It is a good place to stay in Lecce - they just have a few things to work on to keep up with top resorts.
Could do better for a 5 star establishment
Travelled to Lecce for a friends wedding and decided to stay in the 5 star Risorgimento Resort. Lecce itself is amazing and well worth a visit, however, we found the hotel not to be up to its 5 star billing. Whilst the hotel was very clean and well appointed the breakfast service was not good. We had to go hunting for staff to order coffee, there were no hot choices offered, either as part of breakfast or paid extras. The orange juice was not fresh and there was no attempt to greet diners and make them feel welcome. Having traveled extensively and stayed in many hotels of varying standards, the breakfast was certainly below par for even a 3 star establishment. Stars are awarded largely on the services the hotel provide, but clearly they could do significantly better in this regard. Would I stay at the hotel again, yes because of its location to everything. Would I go room only, yes, unless they upped their game considerably.....
Greeted warmly with lovely smiles. This hotel takes very good care of their guests. The room is well appointed and their cleaning service superb. The towels were changed daily and toiletries very generous. You just need to bring hair conditioner. A magnifying mirror in the bathroom would be most helpful, as well as a kettle for boiling water. Our suite was painted red over much of the walls. We took some time to get used to it: Breakfast is good. We were very impressed with the high quality of local specialities they took the effort to provide for their guests eg the dried bread to soak in water and eat with olive oil and tomatoes n herbs and salad leaves, also the pasticiotto was delicious!!
