Beautiful hotel with spectacular views
I know we probably lucked out with our room on the 2nd floor overlooking the marina. Sitting on our terrace and watching the sunset was memorable. We had a pretty large room and a sizable bathroom, especially for an old hotel. We had one dinner and two breakfasts in the hotel restaurant, Ristorante Vittoria. While the dinner was good, the breakfast buffet was amazing. So many choices! Luckily walking around Sorrento helped keep my weight steady. Great stay.
What a place! We weren’t too lucky with the weather but definitely lucked out choosing this hotel. Staff super attentive, rooms spacious and regal, location couldn’t be beat. Hotel itself is just stunning. Would highly recommend. You’re right in the centre of Sorrento, the extensive gardens act as a sort of buffer between you and the city. Walk from your room through lemon / orange groves for a few minutes and you’ll find yourself in the centre of the city. Pretty impressive how resorty / out of the way it feels whilst being neither. Some notes: You pay to play in a hotel of this calibre, drinks and food are top dollar. Expect €24ish for a cocktail / €9 for a beer. You’re paying for the view / ambience.
Kidney to sell or large Credit card limit- worth every penny!
Soooo.... we had just arrived and we love a bit of luxury the 'train' trip around the city centre mentioned this was where all the rich and famous went so I booked that night.... oh Wow! You are not allowed into the hotel grounds without a booking also grounds are amazing as is the view, €75 cancellation so make sure you are going!! If you have a kidney to sell this is the place to go... beautiful views and food 2nd to none, Michelin star and a bit more!! We took the wine pairing option too life is too short !! 😳
I stopped by for a moment to check prices and see about staying for a few nights. The man at the front was remarkably rude to us, dismissing, and claiming he had to make calls before we could even enter to the reception. If this is the attitude potential customers get, better to take my money elsewhere. For a hotel that has struggled so greatly from covid and desperate for high paying tourist dollars, you would think they change their attitude. Shameful!
After a week cruising the amalfi coast we spent three days here. Magnificent old hotel with painted ceilings. Very nice pool area adjacent, complete with famous American actress. Had booked a sea view room and had a large room with a huge balcony to the side overlooking the bay of Naples. Had lunch on day 1 on the lovely veranda and other days Agt the pool side outdoor restaurant. Last night we ate at the Michelin star restaurant. Beautiful setting with table facing a balustrade overlooking the bay. The 9 course meal was theatrically spectacular, but maybe a bit too much for our tastes. A fabulous old style hotel.
