Opulence In the heart of Sorrento
This is our second visit to this fabulous hotel and we can’t recommend it enough. As soon as you enter the hotel through its cast-iron gate it’s almost as if you have stepped into another world. The first thing you notice is its beautiful gardens of cascading fruits, fragrant flowers and stunning sculptures. The reception foyer gives you a taste of the hotel's luxurious style and the reception staff provide such a quick and efficient check-in. The staff are second to none and are what make this hotel so special. I was delighted when they recognised us from our previous stay which made us feel really special. We stayed in a beautiful room which had a stunning bedroom and bathroom on the lower floor and a lounge area and shower room on the top floor. The balcony views were simply stunning and overlooked the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius, which was perfect for sipping a glass of wine which the hotel had kindly provided us. The breakfast is located in a stunningly large room with ceiling frescos and some views overlooking the sea. Each morning a lovely lady would play the piano while everyone tucked into their delicious breakfast. The breakfast choice was extensive, from an abundance of sweet choices, hams and cheeses, fresh fruit, fresh juices to order, eggs of your choice, pastries, warm dishes, the choice was spectacular and catered to everyone’s needs. The terrace was a great place to sit during the day and sip on an array of beautifully crafted cocktails while taking in the stunning views. For a fantastic lunch, I recommend the L’Orangerie located near the pool. It serves a delicious selection of Italian food both traditional and contemporary. I especially loved the baked aubergine which was to die for. Their Michelin star restaurant Terrazza Bosquet was another winner for me! The room is airy and relaxed with a beautiful array of artwork. The menu was extensive and in the end, I put my trust in the fantastic staff to bring out a selection of dishes which were delicious. I especially recommend the Fancy: 22 times tomatoes, which was very unique. We had the chance to meet Head chef, Antonio who served us a very special dessert. It was clear to see how passionate he was. While staying at the hotel we would often bump into the General manager, Tiziana who was always at hand to make our stay extra special. We would often see her chatting to all the guests which we thought was such a personal touch. While walking through the hotel you were always greeted by the staff and by the end of our stay we felt like part of the Vittoria family. If you are looking for a stay in a luxurious hotel that is full of warmth and soul then this is the hotel for you! From the exquisite rooms, stunning food and friendly staff, you won’t find a more perfect place than The Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria
Beautiful and historic with amazing views...
Beautiful Sorrento is just a few steps from this beautiful landmark hotel.... You will feel like you have stepped back in time....We were a family of six which included 2 teens along with my parents.... I will return....
For a 5 star hotel this was the smallest room I have ever been in. Not a good value at all. The bathroom was also tiny. Strictly a one person bathroom. Inexcusable. Avoid this hotel unless you can get them to commit to a reasonable room when you book.
Love everything about this hotel. After getting married last year in Sorrento and having our wedding celebrations at the hotel after, we were a little nervous to return as the wedding experience was exceptional and so many amazing memories. However this time certainly didn’t disappoint and only enhanced our stay. It was so wonderful to return. We were greeted by friendly faces who remembered us. Our Maître D from the wedding party summed it up beautifully when he said “Welcome home.” The hotel building itself is stunning, filled with so much history. The service and facilities are just exceptional and all made by the friendly, helpful and caring staff. The views from the terrace of the Bay of Naples and the views from the rooms are just breath-taking. There is the luxury of having a private lift to the port where you can get boats to the islands and Naples. The breakfast in the Vittoria Ballroom is just amazing and what a way to start the day. Superb selection of food and drinks complimented by fantastic staff and the grand piano playing. A short walk from the hotel down the driveway to the centre of Sorrento gives you the best of both worlds - tranquillity and serenity in the hotel grounds and just outside of the hotel gates you are in the life of central Sorrento. If you are looking for a stunning wedding venue, this hotel has everything you could wish for in this beautiful city. Our guests still a year later talk about what a fantastic wedding it was and how amazing the hotel is. All the details are taken care of and all the help and planning before the wedding with their in-house team is so invaluable. The hotel wedding planner was just amazing. It felt like everyone was aware of the plans and itinerary and there were no glitches at all. The hotel director was even fully aware of all the details of our wedding and was always available if needed and that was much appreciated. An absolutely memorable wedding, memorable stay and memorable return - thank you to the staff and team for making it so special and for looking after us and our guests so well. We look forward to returning again next year!
