We stayed on this hotel for 11 nights. We loved our room which was a premier room.with a sea view. The pool area and views are outstanding We really enjoyed the selection of breakfast but would suggest that the potatoes and sausages be kept warm as they were often cold but the eggs were devine by the chief as was the selection of other food includingy fav the fruit bowl. We eat lunch twice here and have to say value for money was lacking here and would suggest going down to the restaurant nearby you won't be disappointed. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and the maids were excellent. We didn't have dinear here so can't comment on evening meals but overall we enjoyed our stay here and thank all the staff.
Very disappointing large hotel with no charm or customer service
We arrived after a 4 hour drive and decided to eat at the hotel. Dinner was atrocious-the worst meal we had in Italy. Breakfast was also quite bad. I stayed at this hotel about 13 years ago and it was lovely. They need a total remake and a new chief. Room are tired looking and customer service is lacking. The only saving grace is the beautiful view from the terrace in the restaurant and room of the bay of Naples on the Amalfi coast.
Looked good in the pictures, even better when we were there. We are two couples, we both had lovely rooms, fabulous views from the balcony, of Sorrento and the Sea (as there were from all the public areas). Everywhere was well maintained and spotlessly clean. The staff were professional, friendly and helpful. Breakfasts are great, a good selection, and the egg station is very accommodating of all requests - omelettes, fried, or boiled. We dined there twice, food is of a high standard and well presented. The bars were not busy (well it was October) and we used them frequently. Very comfortable, and good service at reasonable prices. So close to the town, a 5 minute easy walk, a slope not a hill. We had to rearrange this trip several times, the Hotel were very helpful. It's a family run business and the staff speak highly of the owners. Recommended.
We got married from there
We got married from the hotel 20 years ago . Had a wonderful experience and intend to repeat it again . It’s a special place because of its views over the bay . The food was wonderful so much so I had to go on a diet in order to fit into my wedding dress .. It is so convenient and yet away from the crowds . Can’t wait for all restrictions to end . Ciao
Great service, good location and lovely pool!
This was the last hotel we stayed at during our trip through Italy and what a nice way to end our time! We spent 5 nights at the Grand Hotel Capodimente as part of our Costco package. The property is beautifully appointed in hand-painted ceramic tiles that the Amalfi Coast is known for. Our check-in was swift and we were taken to our spacious room that had a terrace overlooking the Bay. This was the most comfortable king bed we stayed in throughout the trip, mostly because it was a true king and not two twins pushed together. The bathroom had a tub/shower combination, but just one sink. The mini bar was fully appointed and we were greeted with a bottle of champagne on arrival. As part of our Costco package, we enjoyed a complimentary dinner on the first night we were there. Although we really enjoyed this hotel, we found the dinner service was lackluster. The food was good, but not great and as it is a fixed menu with just a few options; I would think one would get bored with it quickly. The service was great in the dining area, however, throughout our stay. Breakfast was served buffet style with a separate bar for made-to-order omelettes and eggs, as well as potatoes, baked tomatoes and bacon (these are hidden under a hood though with no signage so you have to ask about them or you will never see them-we didn’t realize they were there until day 3). There were also fresh fruits, pastries and breads, sliced meats and cheeses, yogurts and a full espresso bar to order. We enjoyed the multi-level pool several days and although it’s not incredibly warm, the lower pool was definitely warmer than the upper pools. There is a poolside bar that is convenient and we had lunch at the restaurant by the pool and found that to be excellent fare (I had pizza and hubby had pasta). Although the keys are on very large keychain (I’ve seen some negative reviews regarding this), the front desk staff are very used to guests dropping their keys at the desk on their way out and then picking up on return. The hotel is located within walking distance to the town square and the marina. If you want to walk a very short distance for a very nice meal, I would highly suggest checking out Taverna Sorrentina Sweet Dream just a 5-7 minute walk from the hotel. Overall I would highly recommend the Grand Hotel Capodimente and we would definitely stay here again!
