We changed to this hotel when our original hotel in Ischia proved a disappointment. We were so glad we did. The staff were lovely and so friendly. The manager had worked his way up the hotel doing all jobs and you could see his leadership and attention to detail was followed by his staff. Many of which had been there for many many years and appear to be a big family. Special mention to Lucia and Titziana on hotel reception, Pedro the pool guy, and Mario in the bar area. The pool area is lovely, the thermal heated pools a delight. Just to note that you have to reserve your pool loungers the day before to guarantee a preferred spot and you have to hire pool towels. The only thing that let the hotel down slightly was the choice for breakfast and the quality of the dinner we had one night. The breakfast was buffet style that was adapted to conform with COVID regulations, but choice was limited with no variation for all 5 mornings. Dinner was standard food, reasonably priced, but not memorable. The hotel location was excellent, on a fairly quiet street, with many shops, boutique, restaurants and cafes near by, about a 15 minutes walk to the port, 3 minute walk to the beach and beach bars/ cafes. Would have given it 5* but the only very slight let down was the food. But we would definitely stay here again.
We stayed at this hotel for two nights and we cannot really fault it. Everything was simply perfect! The room we were given had an amazing view of the sea and the swimming pool, it was spacious, wonderfully furnished and had a little terrace with a table and beach chairs. The hotel was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious, and we were served at our table (on yet another lovely terrace overlooking the sea). Staff was polite, helpful and professional (thank you so much Roberto!). Highly recommended!
Expected Much More
For our four night stay, we arrived around 1pm and checked in around 3pm on the first day. We left our luggage in the reception and were directed to a closed (for the season) restaurant. That experience was very disappointing and we were already exhausted from travel. We ended up at the Grand Hotel Quisisana for lunch which was quite nice. We were excited about heading back to the Hotel La Floridiana to check in to our jetted tub on our private terrace with an incredible view. Well, the desk clerk said we could take our own luggage to our room because the other clerk had just taken another party to their room. We elected to wait, have our luggage delivered, and to be shown the in-and-outs of the room. An attitude emerged that was not pleasant. We were taken to our room, at the 2nd lowest level where the fumes of propane and mold were horrible. We were shown a jetted tub that the clerk didn't understand how it worked. Basically, we didn't receive instruction on how to use the amenities of the hotel nor the equipment/accessories in the room. The ocean view was great if you stood on your toes and nonexistent if you were in the jetted tub. There were retractable metal doors for privacy, security, and to keep the heat and the direct sun out of the room. We found out we had one and how to operate the door on the 3rd day. Privacy was between rooms (horizontal) and NOT vertical. The jetted tub, being on the lower level was directly below all the balconies where guests were plentiful and hanging over or seated by the railing. There was no sense of privacy. Breakfast was so-so, especially if you enjoy breads and pastries, hard boiled eggs, and sliced lunch meat. There was an option to have your eggs prepared fried or scrambled, but ingredients included cheese! Overall, the place was okay, bed was semi-comfortable, bathroom was functional, staff were slow to be hospitable, and the price did not fit the hotel. If to do again, I would spend the extra money for a room in a higher starred hotel where the service and attitude were consistent with the ratings.
Do not stay here!
The 3of us had paid for 2 double sea view rooms. We went to our rooms. 3 women 2 rooms. 5 minutes later we learn the single lady had been moved to the basement room which looked as if it was a scullery maid's room. Tiny, no space . After an hour or more. The receptionist said my travel agent made a mistake. I emailed her she contacted her Italian connection, we had reserved 2 sea iew rooms. She then said an employee who messed up their books had been fired. Said my friend had to stay in that room 1 night then she would be moved. Then she said the hotel was booked, we had no choice. We did not accept this and amazingly she found a suite for 4 in a fully booked hotel? At check out, the night before we left We were given a bill for a huge meal with wine that we had not ordered. The kitchen staff was consulted to determine that my words were true. The kitchen staff Gabrielle and others are the only nice thing about this hotel. The morning of our departure again I was given a bill for charges that weren't ours. Warning, stay at your own risk.
Superfriendly staff, nice, clean big room. Perfect breakfast with a beautifull view. Close to the center but far enough from the night life. We will come back again. Highly reccomended place for familys with child as well.
