Amazing romantic hotel
We celebrated our wedding there. It was a wonderful party. The hotel, the rooms, the dining area, the terrace, pool and garden, everything is beautiful and elegant (only the two golden dogs in the lobby I would reconsider ;) ). But the best is the view on the lake and the Iles Borromee. The food was great at the wedding and the breakfast as well. The staff was super friendly and did a great job. Special thanks to Novella. We will definitely come again for our anniversary.
Spent a week at this hotel in September. On arrival we were very impressed with the grand entrance and were checked in promptly to room 505. Although there was not much of a view, this was expected as we didn't pay extra for a view of the Lake. The room was a good size and had plenty of storage space and nice Aqua de Parma toiletries. What was not mentioned in other reviews was that all soft drinks and beer was complimentary and this was replenished daily – this was a nice touch. The views at the hotel certainly do have the wow factor, the position is not great as it is just outside Stresa, turn left at the petrol station down the road (8 mins walk away) and this will take you away from the main road along a walkway to Stresa. Stresa has lots of big hotels along the front and along the cobbled streets to the right you will find lots of shops and eateries to pass an hour or two. The food: Breakfast – plenty of things on offer but we were disappointed to see that porridge was an extra 8 Euros each per day, so didn't bother! Thought this was slightly excessive. Dinner – was eaten in the main dining room, although there were a couple of weddings during our stay we did eat in another dining room on the first night. The food whilst nice, the portions were tiny and there were no vegetable accompaniments. Guests eating from the menu did appear to have an amuse bouche and a few extras, we felt slightly left out. We were able to eat outside and take in the fabulous views which was lovely and there were blankets provided in case it became a little chilly. We did use the gym and spa and had no issues with these and the pool area outside was lovely, if a little noisy with cars passing on the busy road. Unfortunately I became quite ill whilst there with a stomach upset and sickness and spent 36 hours in my room being sick, so my partner had to dine on his own 2 nights in the restaurant, a couple of the waiters did ask how I was and when I was feeling better I was welcomed back. We took an enjoyable ferry ride across to the Barromean Islands and we did take the cable car up to the mountain which was a good experience. We enjoyed our stay, despite a few minor niggles re. small portions of food/position of the hotel - it is a nice hotel not sure why but we were left slightly underwhelmed.
Lovely views and Location
We visited Maggiore in the off season and decided to stay at the Aminta, upon arriving the hotel itself looked amazing and deserved of the Palazzo in the name. The decor was grand and classical Italian as expected and the staff were courteous. We were offered a room upgrade as I was celebrating my birthday weekend which was a nice touch and treated to complimentary drinks in the bar The room itself was nice if a bit on the small side, the only issue was that the shower was not very usable unless you wanted the whole bathroom to flood but the addition of a Jacuzzi made it a nice place. There is a very nice spa in the basement which Is worth checking out for a detox and some relaxation before the evening. The downsides were that the service during breakfast were very inconsistent and come of the staff were bordering on being rude. A simple example being that bacon was available one day but not the next and we could not customise our Omelettes. The heating in the room also could not turn off which was a bit strange so we left the balcony door open at all times. A bit strange if you ask me. All in all a nice hotel but could do with some polishing to really reach those heights. Kind Regards Mr and Mrs Patel
Special trip to celebrate my 70th birthday
Hotel in a fantastic location on the lakeside. We had a lovely side view room on the 4th floor although it was a little small. Wonderful service, the staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for us Spa amenities looked tremendous but we didn't use them
Absolute Excellence in every aspect
After a week + trip I headed to Stresa for my last night in part due to its proximtiy to Malpensa Airport. The hotel is takes luxury to a new standard and the location is truly like something out of a fairy tale. It was a rainy 24 hours that I spent in Stresa, so 100% of my time was at the Hotel. The people...........kind, take care of every detail, caring, efficient and most pleasant. The common areas and the room - perhaps the most luxurious property that I have stayed in - attention paid to every detail and the cleanliness and standard of furnishings was truly excellent. The food.......dinner in the restaurant one evening was one of my best meals in Europe on this trip - class act of service, old school, food that is incredible. The location - right on the shores of Lake Maggiore. This was my first visit to the lakes of northern Italy and when I will return, it will be to Lake Maggiore, and to Stresa and to Palazzo Aminta.
