Perfectly located, lovely touches and friendly service
The hotel was really well situated in Garda Town with many choices of restaurants and shops on the doorstep. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We just had their lowest category room, which was at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park but was well appointed and very comfortable. We were provided with lovely big bottle of Fragonard shampoo and a body wash but they weren't replaced during our 4 night stay. The smaller body lotion was however replaced mid stay. Luckily, we had a small balcony which many rooms in this category don't have. We only had a shower no bath, which apparently is the case throughout this category (I had requested a bath on booking), although the website refers to "shower cubicle or bathtub". The swimming pool area is lovely and really big for the size of the hotel. The hotel also offered free use of bikes, which we made good use of as the flat waterside promenade is perfect for cycling. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel on two evenings in their "traditional restaurant", which offered a different set menu every night for 35 euro. The food and service was excellent. I made use of the spa to have a manicure and had excellent, friendly service. We enjoyed one of our best ever "caprise salads" at the poolside restaurant too for lunch one day. Due to Covid, we were told upon check in that each evening we would need to complete a room service breakfast check list and hand it to reception so that staff would know what we wanted as there was currently no buffet service. Unfortunately, this meant that all the food arrived all at once in different bowls - fruit, yogurt along with all the hot food items and toast etc. My husband's poached eggs were stone cold as was much of the other hot food and toast so clearly had been prepared in advance rather than fresh. We only went to breakfast once due to this. We would like to suggest a shorter menu with different course options that could be ordered on the morning, which many hotels are offering at the moment. This would ensure freshly cooked food served in a guest friendly way. We loved the artifacts positioned around the hotel and quirky touches like individual decorations on each table in the dining room. This slight niggle aside, the Regina Adelaide is a fabulous hotel and certainly the best quality hotel in central Garda Town. We really appreciated being able to extend our check out time as our room was not needed that day as this enabled us to have a last minute cycle and swim and shower afterwards, fresh for the flight home. We also really appreciated the complementary tea and coffee while we waited for our taxi to the airport - these extra touches make all the difference! Thank you Regina Adelaide, we will be back!
Excellent hotel, restaurant mixed bag
The hotel and its grounds are wonderful. Location is very near the lake, yet peaceful. It is an old building in very good shape. Everything is clean and shining. Everything is of good taste, furniture, carpets, leather, mirrors. Our junior suite 318 was spacious, 30 m2, fully equipped with good taste. There was a large balcony with 2 seats and 2 loungers, view to beautiful old trees and even partial view of the lake. The bathroom was large again and fully equipped, one sink, bathtube. The bed and the linen were excellent providing good sleep. There is a big swimming pool with large grounds around, peaceful, within beautiful Mediterranean vegetation. Parking was no problem, very close a secluded lot. No assistance with luggage but that was no problem. Another story was the dining facilities. For breakfast you had to fill out a form on the previous day- corona times! Selection was wide- quality ok. For dinner there was a gourmet restaurant. Products of excellent quality- the combinations depending on personal taste if you like or not, such as grounded mushrooms with grounded hazelnut, so-called creative cuisine In the main restaurant there was offered a fixed price dinner of 35 Euros and enough choice. There was one very friendly and helpful lady, Laura. The other waiters were or a bit rude or not well-trained, in any case not welcoming. They were not in line with the otherwise great hotel. Overall, the hotel is great and we will come back. Probably we will look for outside restaurants as a mix to what the hotel offers. Beautiful walks lakeside to Bardolino, 50 minutes, and boat connection between many lake villages.
Another excellent week's stay at the beautiful Regina Adelaide Hotel
We have just returned from our second excellent week's stay at the beautiful Regina Adelaide Hotel alongside the lake in the centre of Garda. We booked directly with the Hotel taking advantage of a special offer that included a discounted price for stays of 7 days or more and free transfers from Verona Airport to the Hotel and return to the Airport at the end of the stay. We booked a junior suite room on the third floor of the original building with a large balcony facing the lake. The bedroom and bathroom were both large and nicely furnished with air conditioning, fridge, mini bar, and TV. An excellent free wifi service is provided throughout the hotel and grounds. We again stayed on a half board basis with dinner served in the main restaurant every night and breakfast taken on the outside garden terrace in the morning. We very much enjoyed all the food and drinks served. The facilities available to guests were excellent, including extensive gardens, a large well maintained outdoor swimming pool, and a pool bar serving lunch, drinks and snacks. The sauna, Turkish bath, whirlpool and heated indoor swimming pool services are currently closed for safety reasons, in compliance with the Government Covid directives but the Beauty Centre offering various treatments is open normally. Excellent social distancing measures are in place in the dining room and pool areas. The hotel has a separate patisserie shop located in one of its outbuildings. We again found all the staff exceptionally efficient, friendly and helpful throughout our latest stay. The gardens are lovely and the open air terrace to the cocktail bar a great place to relax of an evening. Entertainment was provided on one night of our stay in the lounge in the form of a jazz band. Various other concerts are provided by the Local Council in and around the nearby main square. The Hotel could not be better located only a short walk from the bus station, the ferry pier, the lakeside promenade and the shopping streets. Our second stay at the hotel was another really excellent and relaxing experience and we would recommend it highly and hope to return again.
Another great visit
We have been visiting Regina Adelaide for many years. It never lets us down. This trip was booked in January before the onset of Covid 19. The hotel is working very hard to adapt to these strange times. Face masks are required on corridors and indoor areas but not in the bar or restaurant . The food is always of the highest standard and is continually developing . The four course dinner is innovative and uses the best local ingredients. The wine list is extensive but the local wines are definitely worth trying so ask the dining room staff for recommendations to match your food choices and palates.
Lovely hotel near the lake. Wonderful pool with bar area for drinks and light meals. The Junior suites are spacious with a walk in wardrobe. We have stayed at this hotel many times and it never disappoints.
