A lovely stay in Bellagio, but a lot of money for the rooms.
I’m so pleased we booked the Belvedere hotel for our couple of days in Lake Como. Bellagio is the best location to be based, the hotel a short 5 minute walk into the centre of town and to the ferry port. The hotel grounds are outstanding, beautiful pool area and the most breathtaking views of the lake and the mountains. The staff are very polite and attentive, following covid-19 regulations very well. I was surprised to find no staff taking drinks orders by the pool, I feel this would improve the whole experience. We booked the spa area as it now is mandatory to book a time slot to ensure the spa is throughly sanitised after each guests. We had it all to ourselves for 2 hours, my only wish is that they had some heated beds to lie on, as they only had sun loungers and the aircon was high. Our room was a decent size and extremely clean. I do think the bathroom was on the smaller side and the shower was extremely small. The shower doors were also very awkward to open and close and the toilet button was very hard to push! I would of expected a coffee machine in the room for a high quality hotel, there was a kettle and some tea and instant coffee but no milk so I didn’t use the facilities. Bed was very comfy!! I couldn’t wait to go to sleep again the following night! Breakfast was ok, nothing blew me away. I have had better breakfasts in other hotels in Italy. Overall I’m so pleased we booked the Belvedere Hotel, however for the price I did expect a couple of little details to be better. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Exclusive and Luxury
If you go to Bellagio please don’t look any further, this is the perfect place to stay! Charming staff, beautiful rooms and views, pool jacuzzi and delicious restaurant, you can’t beat this place! Parking provided, 5 min walking distance to town.
Good, but expensive
I really liked the hotel and the grounds are quite stunning, overlooking the lake is really nice whilst swimming and sunbathing. But, you are paying an absolute premium for that view and you don’t get much in return. - You get two bottles of water in the room, it does not get replaced each day which we were completely shocked about. - No water in the gym - if you get breakfast included, you only get basics. If you want something like porridge or eggs Benedict then you have to pay extra - rooms were very average Give you pay upwards of €400 per night, I would have expected at least water to be provided around the hotel for guests. As said, the grounds of the hotel and the view is what you pay for. You don’t get much else.
A lovely hotel, not cheap, and with some surprising flaws
Hotel Belvedere in Bellagio is beautiful. It has stunning views over Lake Como. The rooms are spacious, modern, of high standard and spotless. There is a lovely open-air swimming pool and jacuzzi. Bellagio is one of the loveliest towns on Lake Como, with a range of restaurants, bars and shops ten minutes’ walk away from the hotel. It is expensive, as one would expect from a high-class hotel - we paid over 600 euros a night for a two-storey suite to accommodate a family of four - but the price includes a superb breakfast with a wide choice, and car parking space. We thought it was worth it for a real treat. Staff are polite, attentive, friendly and helpful. They have had to adjust to the new coronavirus-related rules (e.g. staff have to wear face masks all the time) and they have generally done so very well. So why don’t I rate this 5/5? Because of a handful of flaws which can easily be remedied, but which are surprising in such an expensive hotel. - Service at breakfast is slow. Because of coronavirus, the hotel has had to replace the buffet breakfast with table service, and of course this slows things down. But even so, it is really slow. It is a good thing that a basket of (excellent) breads is set out in each table to keep people going while they wait, but there is no water or any other drink so, with dry mouths, one often doesn’t have an appetite to tuck into the bread. I made the suggestion that they put out a bottle of water as well as the bread - which would assuage people’s impatience while they wait to be served, but this suggestion was not acted on. - The housekeeping staff do a good job of cleaning the room and making the beds fresh bed linen every day. But they are bad at replacing soap and toilet rolls in the bathroom; it is annoying and embarrassing to have to ask for these things. A great small detail, which is so easy to put right. I would definitely recommend Hotel Belvedere. Although not cheap, it is really really nice. But the hotel management should pay attention to rectifying a few small, but annoying, flaws.
