Loved the location
Beautiful property. I was so happy with the central location. All the employees were exceptionally nice and helpful with everything from preparing coffee for me to take to my room every morning to recommendations for getting an “ Italian “ haircut !! I traveled solo and felt very safe walking all around this neighborhood at night. Executive rooms have beautiful views as does the roof top bar. Comfy bed, mini fridge and nice toiletries. Breakfast was great and the breakfast room is gorgeous. Several restaurants within a 3 min walk. Highly recommend.
Very nice hotel in Florence
We stayed 2 nights at Hotel Degli Orafi. We were placed in the newly renovated wing so everything was new and updated. Room was very large with large en-suite bath. Rooftop lounge and bar is a nice touch. Would have been better if temperatures had been warmer. Hotel is located just past the historic “old bridge” Ponte Vecchio which is on the edge of old town Florence. You are a 10-15 minute walk from everything so a great location for exploring the city. I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this hotel.
A most lovely hotel!
First off, the location, just adjacent to the Arno and the Uffizi. Everything one needed to get to as a visitor was within a 15 - 20 minute walk. Keeping in mind what direction the river was, one could wander streets and alleys with little fear of getting lost. Get to the river; look for the "old Bridge" and take it from there. The room was also very nice. Not large but the very high ceilings made it feel spacious. comfortable bed and pillows--maybe a bit hard for some. I asked for and got a bathtub. Towel warmer was a nice touch. Each of the floors seemed to have an open sitting area with sofas, etc. The 2nd floor had a bit of a library of books, which I assume were left/donated by prior guests Breakfast buffet was more than sufficiently varied--savory and sweet. Enjoyed the smoked salmon. Several kinds of bread as well as sweet pastries, eggs, bacon, salad, tomatoes and cucumbers, etc. I left for a very early flight, and the hotel provided a little "breakfast sack," which was much appreciated. The complimentary free drink on the fifth floor was a nice touch. Great view from the terrace there. In sum, a very relaxing, welcoming place to stay. I stayed for six nights. Dislikes · All are very minor: Fox news (international?) appeared to be only American news channel on TV. Alternative is UK's Sky news. The toilet paper dispenser could have been moved forward a few inches so one didn't have to twist to get paper.
A Most Memorable Stay
I booked seven nights at this hotel and couldn’t have been happier to lay my head in this wonderful hotel each night. The hotel is located in a completely refurbished old-world building that oozes with charm and elegance. Common areas throughout the hotel (lounges, library, rooftop bar and patio) are ideal for relaxing after a long day of exploring. The location cannot be better - adjacent to the Uffizi Gallery, on the Arno River, about 50 yards from Ponte Vecchio and within short walking distance to virtually every major site in Florence. I had a top floor (4th) room overlooking the Uffizi and a quiet atmospheric street. My room was of ample size, featuring a double bed, writing desk, two chairs, flat panel television, mini bar, sizable wardrobe, two large windows and a spacious luxurious bathroom. The buffet breakfast offered plenty of healthy options (yogurt, granola, fresh fruits), breakfast meats, delicious cheeses, fresh baked breads, pastries, croissants, several varieties of eggs, cold cereals, smoked salmon, etc. Coffee was prepared fresh upon request by the exceedingly pleasant and professional dining staff. The breakfast room is the Sistine Chapel of dining rooms! The high arched ceilings are adorned with magnificent frescoes. I felt like I was dining in a palace every morning. The front desk staff was fabulous - always greeted me every time I entered/exited, provided me with excellent local information (especially Francesco, who was more than happy to answer any questions I had) and was exceedingly professional. If I’m fortunate enough to find myself in Florence again I would not hesitate to stay at Degli Orafi.
Love, love, love this hotel!
Three of us(all women) visited this hotel in late February 2020. We each booked our own rooms, and I ended up in a 4th floor room with a fabulous view of the Arno. The room was comfortable, and the staff is fantastic. I stayed here 9 years ago at the beginning of a cycling trip, and was not disappointed this time either. Breakfast was great, and for those of us needing our caffiene fix early, I was pleased to be able to go to the breakfast room early, and bring a tray with coffee and hot milk back to my room. Staff gave great recommendations for restaurants, called taxis, and were just plain fun to chat with. I highly recommend this hotel!
