Very good stay
We had a really good two night stay at this hotel. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The shower was excellent and they provided lovely little toiletries. The food was really nice and the service was very good. I would recommend staying here.
2 Night Stay
My sister and I have just returned from a wonderful trip to India and spent 2 nights at this hotel. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff could not do enough for us. Just after being shown to our room, I called down to ask for extra milk to make a coffee, within minutes, a lovely man came to the door with a large supply of milk powder sachets and when he saw me wearing no socks and shoes, he went away and returned a few moments later with a pair of slippers for me and my sister! The staff in the dining room were so helpful and friendly and very attentive, the food was delicious and always served with a smile On our last day we asked for a late check out and was advised this would be £20, the lovely lady on the desk sorted this out very quickly for us. We went out for a while and when we returned, the Manager (cannot find the card with his name on) advised us that we would not be charged for keeping the room on! We were very touched. Once we checked out the same gentleman allowed us to keep our Wi-Fi (this is usually disconnected once you check out) Every single person we encountered at this hotel went above and beyond to welcome us and make our stay pleasant. Our room was spotlessly clean and spacious and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Varanasi. The excellent staff make this hotel absolutely fabulous.
Even though we were upgraded to a suite for our two night stay, the hotel is pretty down at heels. Rooms are dark and furniture needs upgrading. The restaurants are somewhat updated and the food was OK in both. We were told by the gift shop owner that the hotel had recently been bought. I hope the new owner will upgrade the rooms. It is listed as 5 stars and there is no way this is a five star hotel.
Visit to the Ganges
I was a little disappointed with the hotel. The rooms were fine but the catering was not at all of a high quality. The breakfast was rather chaotic with a poor layout. How can a large hotel have a 2 slice toaster? It needed a complete modernisation by a professional that is used to dealing with a high traffic quick turnaround restaurant and proper equipment. The staff were also poorly trained. The difference between this hotel and the Taj was enormous. The main restaurants were average. There was a special menu restaurant but everything was too rushed with this menu. It lacked any flair at all. The other restaurant was where the breakfast was served and this also lacked ant flair. The whole hotel needs a make over if it wants to attract quality guests.
Awful. Never again!
We stayed here, purely because The Taj was fully booked and this hotel had largely good reviews. We wish we hadn’t! From the moment we arrived, the service levels were, at best, chaotic and disorganised, a Duty Manager at the hotel conspired with a local taxi driver to badly rip us off on an organised tour, our room was unclean and the entire experience was so bad that we checked out ahead of time and stayed elsewhere. A stay here is NOTHING like a Radisson group hotel, more like a crazy independently owned establishment.
