About this independent tour
This is a private itinerary including a car and driver and local English-speaking tour guides for sightseeing. The itinerary is completely flexible, so you can choose your own number of nights, change accommodation, add excursions and extend your holiday.
**Delhi ** In India’s bustling metropolitan capital, you’ll divide your time between the contrasting Old and New Delhi quarters. In Old Delhi, visit fantastic landmarks including the historic Red Fort, the Chandni Chowk bazaar and the resplendent Jama Masjid, the biggest mosque in India. In New Delhi, you’ll drive past the Presidential Palace, India Gate and the Parliament house and visit Qutab Minar and Humayun’s Tomb.
Agra One of India’s most popular destinations, Agra is home to the world-renowned Taj Mahal. During your time here, you’ll have the chance to enjoy the cultural wonder at both sunrise and sunset, the best times of the day to see the beauty of the stunning white marble mausoleum. You’ll also visit the Red Fort of Agra.
Ranthambore One of the largest reserves in Northern India, Ranthambore National Park is renowned for its excellent tiger population. You can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives during your stay, so there is ample opportunity to try and spot the wild Bengal tigers in their natural environment.
Jaipur Continue to Jaipur, a city rich in cultural heritage. You’ll visit the beautiful Amber Fort, a sprawling historic palace complex situated within the Aravalli Hills, the stunning City Palace complex and the royal observatory of Jantar Mantar.
Jodhpur Otherwise known as The ‘Blue City’, Jodhpur is a medieval city famed for its majestic forts and palaces. Among the bustling streets, you’ll visit the Mehrangarh Fort, the former 15th-Century royal palace complex. Situated on a hill overlooking the city, this is a great place to view the blue-painted houses that populate much of the city’s old quarter.
Udaipur The romantic lake-side city of Udaipur lies on the southern side of the Aravalli Hill range. There’s a real old-heritage charm to this timeless city, where you can enjoy the beautiful architecture of the towering City Palace, and a late-afternoon boating trip on Udaipur’s stunning Lake Pichola.
Tailor your tour
Experience the best bits of India’s majestic Rajasthan on this suggested itinerary – ideal for ticking the country’s most iconic sights off your bucket list. Agra’s spellbinding Taj Mahal is a real tour highlight, so if you want to upgrade your stay here, we recommend the opulent Oberoi Amarvilas. You can gaze out at the Taj Mahal from almost every window. If you’re travelling as a couple, consider staying at the Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur – it’s one of the most romantic hotels in the world.
Big wildlife fan? For a more intimate potential sighting of India’s magnificent tigers, you could skip Ranthambore and instead fly to central India to visit one of its lesser-known national parks, such as Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve or Kanha National Park – the original inspiration for The Jungle Book.
