Day 1: DELHI Today you will board the Deccan Odyssey train, your home for the next seven nights. Before dinner is served the train will depart towards its first stop, Sawai Madhopur.
Day 2: SAWAI MADHOPUR Arrive into Sawai Madhopur, gateway to Ranthambore National Park. Highlights of the day include an afternoon game drive offering you the opportunity to spot the famously elusive tigers, but also sambar deer, wild boar and a variety of birds, and a trip to the former hunting lodge of the royal family of Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur Lodge for high tea.
Day 3: AGRA The next stop is the former Mughal capital of Agra, home to what is undoubtedly the country’s most famous landmark, the Taj Mahal. Following a morning visit to the Taj Mahal and lunch at a local hotel you’ll head to Itmad-ud-Daulah tomb, also known as the ‘baby Taj’, and the Agra Fort. Before reboarding the Deccan Odyssey, there will be time to visit a local market or join an optional visit to the spa at a city hotel.
Day 4: JAIPUR In the Pink City of Jaipur you’ll visit the resplendent hill-top Amber Fort, the City Palace and the Hawa Mahal - also known as the Palace of Winds, it is famous for its intricate pink sandstone carvings and beautiful views of the city. This afternoon there’ll be some free time to explore on your own, visit a local hotel spa or explore one of the vibrant city bazaars.
Day 5: UDAIPUR Arrive in the beautiful lakeside city of Udaipur and embark on a tour which includes a visit to the City Palace - the largest palace complex in Rajasthan - and a ferry ride on Lake Pichola that takes you to the 17th Century Jagmandir palace where lunch will be served and you can enjoy the views of the Aravali Hills and colonial lakeside architecture. This afternoon will be spent on a walking tour of the old town and browsing the stalls at a local bazaar.
Day 6: VADODARA This morning the train will roll into the city to Vadodara in the state of Gujarat. In this city, which is rich in history, you’ll visit the incredible UNESCO-listed Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, the only complete and unchanged pre-Mughal Islamic city in India. Later visit the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum where you can enjoy the many works of art from Indian and European masters followed by high tea at the resplendent Laxmi Vilas Palace which remains the residence of the Royal family even today.
Day 7: AURANGABAD Spend a relaxed morning on board the train as it continues on its journey southwards. Your final afternoon will be spent at the Ellora Caves where 34 grand monasteries and temples have been carved into the rock face. This World Heritage Site is the finest specimen of cave-temple architecture in India and includes Buddhist, Jain and Hindu temples. Later today, relax with a sundowner on the train as you head towards Mumbai.
Day 8: MUMBAI Following breakfast onboard, alight at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station.

This is a fixed itinerary rail journey on the luxurious Deccan Odyssey. All meals are included as well as soft beverages and the service of an English-speaking local guide for the off train excursions and game drives. Each of the elegant and air-conditioned Deluxe Cabins and Presidential Suites feature a flat-screen television, DVD player and en suite bathroom. The Presidential Suites have a living area and guests can enjoy butler service. There’s also a spa coach with a sauna, small gym and treatment rooms.
