What to expect

I hoped this afternoon tea would be one of the highlights of our trip. We decided not to stay at the Taj Mahal Palace, but thought it would be nice to visit and the afternoon tea seemed like a highly recommended activity, especially so close to the Gateway of India. The whole experience was underwhelming, nothing you would expect of a Palace. The main issue is that there was no sense of occasion. We dressed well and expected and Experience, with a capital E. Nobody else dressed well, we were surrounded by people in sports tshirts, and the staff didn't even provide good service, let alone something to remember. Unfortunately I expect it has become over popular and they don't need to try anymore. Dirty tables around us for 30 minutes, no clear information about the food or drink, nothing customised to us (I would have upgraded to the more expensive high tea if I was asked), too much food too quickly, bad presentation, inattentive staff etc etc. I was happy to leave.
High-Tea with a view
Exceptional service with lovely ambiance. Kudos to Srishti, Dhanashree, Anirudh and Aryan (Under Training) for their warmth filled hospitality and making my Sunday evening special. 🌸✨
Delicious food and lots of variety
We really enjoyed the afternoon tea at Sea lounge. We went there as a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. There was plenty of vegetarian options and they catered for us as per our dietary requirements. We went there late in the afternoon and there was lots of variety such as chaats, dabeli, cakes, scones, curries etc. The hot chocolate was amazing and the pianist there played very beautifully. We really enjoyed this place. The staff were helpful as well. We will definitely come back.
Overhyped, Overpriced, Poor Service
Overhyped and overpriced. Went with my sisters and mom, was so excited given the high ratings. It was very disappointing. Service was not good, took over 15 mins to even get offered a tea selection. From the extensive menu, only 4 options. The masala tea was very watery. I understand needing to offer sugar-free tea, but at the Taj I expected one with sugar and one without. Masala Chai without heating the sugar into it and adding it after are not the same thing. Now the food, the buffet was over cooked and dry. Four of the options- paneer, fish, chicken, vegetables all cooked in the same batter and seasoning. No variation and all overcooked and dry. The tea stand options were pretty but not good. The turkey sandwich was uneatable and the veg safari sandwich was so bland. The chat took about 20 mins to come to the table and you could only order 1 item per person at a time. Presentation was nothing special. The desserts were good, the gulab juman pound cake was nice. But considering the high price, it’s not worth it. You can order them separate or from a nice sweet shop. I expected a nice tea service worthy of the Taj and this wasn’t it. No one explained the courses, how to order, what to expect. Very haphazard, left a lot to be desired.
this place is good to have a early breakfast and watch the calm sea and gateway of india . loved the mysore masala served . the colour and ambience is a good feel for the start of the day
