What to expect

Beautiful and quiet
We had two meals here whilst in Mumbai and I regretted not staying here. This is a quiet, elegant and charming hotel. This lounge was lovely for lunch. The staff are all wonderfully attentive. The hotel has a memorial in the lobby which you'd miss if you weren't informed; dedicated to the people who lost their lives in the hotel terrorist attack some years ago. It is very sobering to see, but I believe respect should be paid there when first you visit and then enjoy. For the architecture alone it is well worth the visit.
Worst experience ever (went for High Tea)
In short, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT for everything. We had to wait to enter. There was a trainee at the entrance who could not tell us how long the wait was. We waited more than an hour to enter. We enter, we wait for the service to begin. Some items (chaat, pani puri) are served at the table, had to request for cutlery. Went for the buffet, there were some high tea pretend sandwiches. The only way one could get attention for service was by demanding for it (saw a family doing it), trying to wave to get attention, none of the servers bothered to look around or raise their heads. Then came payment time, had to call to pay, wait another 30 minutes for payment to be completed (we had a gift card, they had to go to some other floor to validate it). The dishes were horrible. The chaat was passable (get better ones on the streets). The High Tea sandwiches did not exist. My wife is a high tea fan and always go to one whenever we have chance. Thought Taj with its name and fame, would serve the best High Tea. Very disappointed, will not recommend and will never visit this place. Not sure what kind of a High Tea was it proposing to be.
nice place sitting by the window and enjoying food, staff mature and slow thats the bit drawback otherwise its a nice place
Terribly disappointing experience - a slur on the brand’s reputation !
Being long-standing customers of the Taj, across various properties / locations - my wife and I thought it would be appropriate to gift our relatives from Canada a “High-Tea experience” at the Sea Lounge. This turned out to be a complete disaster - right from the word go. Firstly, it took several phone calls to find out how we could “gift” an experience, since we ourselves couldn’t be there in person, but would have liked our guests to enjoy the much vaunted fare that the Sea Lounge boasted about. Secondly, we were advised that a prior reservation would not be required (for the 27th of Dec) and that our guests could just “show up” at 3:30 pm. When they did, they were made to wait outside for 90 minutes (there were three restless children, including our son) and nobody had the courtesy of offering them a place to either be seated, or provide them a reasonable time slot when they could be accommodated. After much dialogue and discussion, when they finally got a table - the service was pathetic, and they were made to feel like unwanted visitors. The tables were not manned - and the lady at the reception was a “trainee” who had no idea on what needed to be done. The so called “Senior” waiters made themselves scarce, leaving our guests wondering what they had done to deserve such a pathetic and disgraceful fate, for no fault of theirs. Speaking to the Assistant Manager Mr Gaurav the next day did little to redeem the damaged reputation. He had nothing to offer but a weak apology, when forced to provide an explanation. My advice to prospective customers would be “Enter at your Own Risk, and Prepare To Be Disappointed”. A slur on the reputation of brand Taj, for sure.
Tourists from south africa
Although we loved d ambience and incredible pianist, it was not phenomenal...really expected outstanding food..nothing really justifies d price tag of 5000 rupees for 2 people...high prices demands excellence..sea lounge sadly falls short...even had to wait for half An hour for cheesecake that ran out.kudos to the highly apologetic waitress and the rest of the team of waitrons
