I just had a great stay at this hotel. it was part business and part leisure with family.the booking process was smooth in spite of having additional family staying with me. the spacious room was tastefully done. a regal touch with an understated elegance to it. the breakfast buffet was something we looked forward to every morning. the staff foresaw and attended to very detail without being intrusive. Bimalji the concierge had a warm and friendly presence and was able to advise us well . He also linked us with an excellent chauffeur who we stuck with till the end. overall it has been proven again that you never go wrong in choosing Taj.
A Hotel fit for Kings and Queens!
Our stay at the Taj Bengal was one fit for Kings and Queens! We were greeted with a wonderfully warm welcome from the reception and concierge staff, before being guided to our beautiful rooms filled with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing family holiday. We stayed on the Club Level, with staff welcoming us home after our tours into the streets of Kolkata and arranging bookings for us. Housekeeping staff made sure our rooms were kept to perfection and that we had everything we needed. Our family enjoyed dining at the hotel's various restaurants and bars throughout our stay, experiencing exceptional food, wine and service. A highlight of our stay was listening to the string quartet in the lobby after dinner each night - a magnificent addition to the hotel. The laundry service was exceptional. The staff at Taj Bengal are what makes it such a unique and magnificent place to stay, always friendly, always smiling, always wanting to help make our holiday at this hotel a wonderful experience. The staff at this hotel pay lots of attention to detail, and it was all the 'little' things that made our stay so memorable. The Taj Bengal is a world class hotel and I would highly recommend anyone visiting the beautiful city of Kolkata to stay here when they visit. I certainly hope I have the honour of staying at this hotel again in the future, a place I would call my 'Indian home'.
Bussiness for me Plusher for Wife
My job carries me all over the world. The TAJ is one of the to two hotels my wife and I have stayed at. Everyone from Management to housekeeping made my wife feel like a Queen. Everyone always had a smile on there and a pleasant word for you. The TAJ is one place I will go back to on my time off. If anyone is in Kolkata the TAJ is the only place to stay.
Terrible customer service and staff attitude, should not be a TAJ property
I have stayed at TAJ properties all over India and can proudly say, it’s one of those iconic hotel brands that truly look after their customers. TAJ BENGAL, the way it is being run is no better than a cheap motel by the road. It was the worst customer service ever received at a Taj Hotel. Shameful that this gets to be a part of Taj umbrella and give them a bad reputation. The hotel looks nice from the lobby, the bar etc. But the greatest Taj assets “their people” Friendly, Genuine, Warm staff members are clearly missing at this property. From the reception area staff to the lobby staff , everyone looks angry and unhappy and rubbing it off their customers. They also “pick and choose” who they want to greet and acknowledge, happened a multiple times during my stay. Few things that transpired during my stay: 1 Check In - As a platinum member, any Taj property addresses by your name and acknowledge you being a Loyal Taj Customer. I was checked in by a girl called Ravinder, in my opinion, it was the poorest and the worst welcome I ever received at any Taj property. That associate upgraded me to a room after I had to ask for it as if she did a huge favor (I have never had to ask for it being at the tier I am at). Her attitude was rather extremely unprofessional, rude and crass . At check out, she looks at me , refused to acknowledge me and spoke nicely to my Neighbours. That’s a huge NO just not for Taj but any property whatsoever 2 - Duty Manager Saurabh Mitra - I walked up to the guy requesting him to have my laptop delivered to my room. The guy without a greeting, a hello, a smile, any simple acknowledgement or an any courtesies walks away with my laptop without confirming that it’s be done. I’d give him a minus 10 on his job and how he thinks he can get away with a behavior like that. Shocked to see how a corporate like TAJ has a guy of his acumen, at a manager level . In my 30 plus years of travels all over the world, his was by far, the worst attitude I ever witnessed. On a good note, I would like to acknowledge some good people at this property too. At the Bar - Soumyajeet Concierge - Bimal . These 2 folks reflected the true Taj Culture - genuinely polite, courteous and very pleasant. Requesting Taj Corporate to look into this matter seriously and acknowledge this message. I tried calling Mr. Gupta who runs this hotel, but was unable to speak to him. Would NOT RECOMMEND this property to anyone visiting Calcutta. Go stay at one of the better hotels - ITC made a wonderful impression the first time and it was my fault for having given these guys a chance.
I was part of the group of 20 Pax. I was little scared of services as we do face at few other hotels. But It was good to be there and excellent hotel with all International standards. Room was clean and food was very nice. Entire staff starting from Front desk till bell boy was very helpful. We loved to be there and enjoyed a lot
