never stayed in small boutique hotel , but it was excellent , our room was huge , with a small seating area outside, but im afraid the mosquito beat us back into our room, there is a small pool and seating area, the restaurant was good and the night we ate there a small trio playing local music , staff extremely helpful even to the point that one of the receptionists told us we would be leaving early and would miss breakfast and would organise us a packed breakfast to eat at the airport , how nice was that ! we were well impressed
A great hotel choice in Old Kochi but dine elsewhere
Excellent location near the water front in old Kochi. Our bedroom (suite) was super comfortable & spacious. Front reception customer service was very good customer. Swimming pool is very small but a welcome opportunity to cool down in what can be the sweltering humidity of Kochi . Quality of restaurant food & service was disappointing and not to the standard of the rest of the hotel.
We stayed two nights at the hotel at the end of our trip along the Western Ghats before flying back home. The room was large and very tastefully decorated, with its own large terrace. We had several meals at the hotel‘s highly rated restaurant and we were not disappointed: The dishes were just delicious, one after the other. Big compliment to the chef! After we had spoken to him he really outdid himself to accomodate my wife‘s dietary requirements. Greatly appreciated!
Delightful small heritage hotel
Our ground floor room may have been smaller than most we stayed in, but the others didn't have 2 furnished outside areas, 1 a very private garden and the other by the central courtyard. The renovations have been done with great regard for the heritage of this lovely colonial building as well as modern quality and the decorative touches gave a feel of its history. In all, the relaxed atmosphere created a homely haven. Everywhere was immaculately clean and well maintained. Standards of service were as high as one would expect in any Relais and Chateaux hotel and the staff warmly welcoming as well as efficient. When we were without water after a power cut the staff restored it faster than I would have thought possible; not what we were used to in India! The setting, opposite the old parade ground and close to the waterfront, is the perfect place for those of us who enjoy strolling and exploring our destinations. You can easily reach anywhere in the old Fort area on foot and there are some beautiful streets and buildings really close by. It is also near the ferry to the modern city. On arrival we had a drink and light lunch in the upstairs bar. The giant prawns in spiced batter were spectacularly good and in all it was our favourite meal there. In the restaurant for dinner we enjoyed the food and its presentation but found the spicing a bit down-played for our taste and portions rather small which made it expensive. However, breakfast was excellent. We both felt it would be more comfortable on a sultry evening if the under cover part of the restaurant could be closed off and air conditioned; both it and the courtyard were oppressively hot.
A Lovely Place to Stay
I stayed here towards the end of my tour of southern India. This is a lovely hotel in a lovely old restored building right in the centre of the historical area and near the coast. I had a room on the ground floor near the front but it was quiet at night. Nice personal touch that your name card is put by your door. Large comfortable room. Kettle, tea, coffee, water bottles, daily supply of fruit, chocolates and biscuits. Wi-fi good. I had my own private patio area. Shower. Lots of hot water. I could have done with more electrical sockets. I used my adapters. 4 poster bed. Good a-c. Enough storage space. Stylish. Television OK choice of channels. Lovely restaurant are by the garden/pool. Lovely food. Very good.
