Wonderful stay and excellent hospitality
We were two couples who had contacted Ranjit to plan our trip for 3 nights. The responses from Ranjit was quick and the whole plan from picking us up from Nagpur to the 2 buffer zone and 3 core safaris were finalized within a couple of days. We were picked up from the airport as scheduled and on reaching Svasara, Ranjit was there to welcome us personally. Our rooms were ready and we checked in immediately after the welcome drink. Despite the heat, the rooms were cool due to the aircon. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms were clean. The food was homely and had the type of food differed every day. Snacks, water, tea and juices were packed into the safari gypsies. On return from the safari, cold towels were waiting for us with lime juice. In the morning after the safari, we had a sumptuous breakfast and in the evening snacks were waiting for us. Our arrangement back to the Nagpur airport was timely and comfortable. In all the experience was excellent and we specially thank Ranjit and Nandita for the excellent arrangement. The review would be incomplete without the mention of Meghnad for his hospitality and prompt service.
Home Away From Home!!
From the time we entered Svasara, to the time we exited after a 2N/3D stay, we felt totally at home. We were received warmly by senior management, Ranjit & Nandita, who chatted with us on prospects, season and information on Tadoba. I had left everything to Ranjit, and even though at very short notice, he made a fantastic plan Ex-Nagpur, taking care of transport, planning zones and making booking for safaris, including jeeps. Everything at Svasara had only improved few notches from our earlier visit, years back, though they were too good already, back then. As we entered the resort gate, we were welcomed by soothing sounds of insects and birds, in a mini forest like landscape. Room was ready, so after a welcome drink, we could check-in immediately. The cottage was extremely comfortable with good air conditioning, twin beds, sofa, soothing lighting and a place for everting. A lot of thought, care and concern had gone into proving facilities and amenities for us, the guests. They have a safety vault, dresser, small fridge and even two pairs of slippers. The huge toilet was clean, well provided. It had a glass cubicle for a soothing hot water shower. They also gave interconnecting rooms/cottages. A sit-out outside the cottage with two chairs and a ceiling fan is ideal to soak in nature and even sight some birds. The food was excellent for breakfast, lunch, evening snacks (after safari) and dinner. There was something for all, with lots to choose from. Low on oil and moderately spiced, the food didn’t cause problems, considering back-to-back safaris, in tossing jeeps on bumpy forest tracks. Must mention: Dinner with local cuisine…Amazing! Finally, a word on what they are best at/known for…their service and care. A huge, trained and caring team took great care of us with enthusiasm and speed. They never say ‘no’! Must mention: In-house Naturalists…Simply great! Cold towels and lemonade after safari, brought relief, as much as the cold water, lemonade, juice and cookies that they pack to keep hydrated, during the safaris. Love to swim? There is a pool. Unwind and rejuvenate with their SPA packages at extra, but affordable cost. Yes, the weather was rather hot, but we had great sighting of various animals and birds, except Sloth Bears, Dholes and reptiles! We saw many tigers and one huge male leopard. Buffer zones are potential too. Certainly going back again in early 2023…God willing! We were seen off by Ranjit & Nandita, as we sat in the taxi to leave TATR and Svasara with a rather heavy heart…for I hate to depart from both!
It was my first visit to Svasara jungle resort. We just visited last week, stayed for 3 nights with 4 safari booked. It was a wonderful experience. Resort is super and room are large and well maintained. Staff are very friendly and always helpful and at service. Resort itself gives u vibes of that forest feeling. We did night Safari as well. Was not lucky to spot tiger at night but the experience of being in jungle at night was amazing and mesmerizing. I was not happy with food as i found it was too basic and not much option for non vegetarians. Breakfast was good. But lunch and dinner could have been better and with.more variety. Loved my stay and i am definitely going to visit in winter time.
my 4th stay but what a huge disappointment this time...time to move on I guess
Svasara Jungle Lodge has been property of choice since 2016. I have come back time and again to Svasara for the great rooms, the super service and engaging staff, and the convenience of being next to the Kolara gate. So, as soon as the Covid rstrictions lifted I was back at Svasara and with a group of family friends. We had 4 rooms booked. The rooms continue to be nice. And the gate shall always remain near. Unfortunately, the damp squib was the disinterested and poor service attitude by the Svasara Jungle Lodge senior team. And mind you we were occupying 33% of the resort capacity. And what pinched even more being that I was a regular visitor to Svasara with this being my 4th stay. We asked for a low oil and low masala meal that never appeared. Not even one separate dish that could have been easily prepared separately for us. The senior staff were treating us with a fair degree of indifference and very little interest or desire to engage. I almost felt we were like the unwanted friends of the owners! 3 examples of their indifferent attitude – 1) my wife had a nasty fall on the uneven stone slabs in the pathway. Luckily no fracture but it was a bad knock on the knees. Resulting in her having to cancel all safaris as well as having to resort to a wheelchair at Nagpur airport on departure. Did the resort head even bother or enquire about her welfare. Whether she needed any medical help or assistance. The answer sadly is NO. We asked for an ice pack. What came was a bucket of ice. And to top it they did not even bother to check with her in the room if she would like breakfast to be sent there. With a painful knee and with none of us to support her as were on a safari, she had to skip her breakfast. 2) Another instance being when Raghoo who has a long flowing white beard realised that it had turned pink courtesy the red mud of Tadoba. He asked for a hand towel to wipe the beard to be told rather curtly by the senior lady staff that the red mud is very difficult to take out from the towel and a big nuisance for them…as if the red mud was our problem. A good practice of theirs of the past of blow drying all the camera and the clothes covered with the red dust on return from a safari has been dispensed with. And 3) at the time of our departure there was no one to say bye. The senior staff had left in the morning to Nagpur. Nothi9ng wrong with that. However, a common courtesy would have been to wish us bye the previous evening. Defintely felt taken for granted. So from a 5* rating Svasara has dropped to 2*……maybe time to try out another property in Tadoba!
Always go the extra mile
Stayed here with the family in March 2022. This is the umpteenth time we have come back to Tadoba and Svasara. All I can say is that the managers (Nandita and Ranjit) and staff make the place. They will always go the extra mile,to make sure the guests are comfortable. We will be back again in the near future…great job as always.
