Ranthambore nature reserve
excellently situated for going on safaris in the nearby nature reserve. Very well geared up for guests going on these safaris - pre dawn tea, coffee and cakes and breakfast then continuing until all jeeps home. All staff very friendly and unfailingly polite. Relaxed lovely grounds, huge rooms with superb bathrooms, bit of a walk to reception but they will send electric buggies for you if needed! Pool spa and gym on site but we didn't use them much - too busy going on safaris and then relaxing in the gardens looking at the monkeys, parakeets and fruit bats.
Refined understated elegant hotel!
We stayed at this hotel only for one night while we did safari drives in Ranthambore National Park; it was so comfortable I wish we could have stayed longer. The website does not do this property justice. It is an old hunting lodge that must have been build during the period that England governed India; it feels very British. The service is top notch. The property is an oasis in an otherwise hectic outside town. The rooms were large and comfortable. The restaurant offered a wide selection of delicious food and made great fresh dosa's for breakfast. If you are in this are I can't imagine there is a better choice for lodging.
Vintage Raj Luxury
A near century old hunting lodge turned hotel. It's a well maintained experience of 1930 colonial India. Staying here was a highlight of our trip. We were with friends and ate and drank together in a old club atmosphere. Land Rovers picked us up from the veranda to venture into the park looking for tigers. Our guides were great and coordinated with the other guides in the park to locate tigers. After a morning of near fruitless wandering our afternoon drive allowed us to get within 30 feet of a mother and two cubs in a water hole -- we watched them and they watched us with nothing to intervene but the distance. FANTASTIC! Toward evening bats, with 2-3 foot wing spans, would launch from the trees surrounding the lawn and fly circles overhead. Some of our group were a bit unnerved at this but the bats were an amazing sight.
A Majaraja's lodge that felt more like a motel
If you hope to see tigers, this is one of your only options ( though after three, 3 hour jaunts on rough dirt roads, we did not. The rooms, lounges, and restaurant areas are adequate, hardly "royal". The g food isn't too good. The personnel are very helpful though
