Everything from the pick up from our hotel in Nagpur onwards was just right and went smoothly , staff are attentive but not pushy , rooms are unusual , comfortable , clean and lovely , game drives are very well organised , the guides really know the park and the best chances of seeing the wildlife , you are not guaranteed to see anything but they do everything to make sure you do, it is eco friendly , the food is just fabulous , local and really fresh , nothing pre prepared and all cooked with experience and love , there is nothing we didn't like and we would highly recommend it.
A fantastic holiday with wonderful staff
We stayed for 3 nights. Our naturalist Mr Radhe was exceptional. Knew his stuff and was superbly patient and in no hurry. The rest of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and accomodating to our requests. The hotel is beautiful and spread over a wide area with plenty of birds and trees. The holiday was one we will remember.
Wonderful experience, will make you want to come back
This was the third Pugdundee property we visited and it's commendable how they have maintained such high standards of hospitality and service across all their properties. Mr. Harish, the lodge manager and his team made our entire stay a very comfortable one. We had booked one cottage and one tree house. The cottage had an attic with a double bed and was very spacious with naturally well lit work table and a large sit out area. The bathroom was spacious with enough space to stow your luggage. Everything is well maintained and clean. As soon as you step out for breakfast or safari, you would come back to find the room made up. This is followed by a turn down service in the evening. The food was another highlight of our stay. The chef, Mr. Pankaj always checked if we wanted anything customized especially for our child but we always left it to him as both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes prepared were equally a delight for the taste buds. We especially loved the in-house ice creams. Our favourite was the rose ice cream and a very innovative one made with Mahua flowers from the trees found a plenty on the property and that were in blooming season in April. The restaurant staff would constantly check on our requirements and served with a lot of care. We had booked safaris through the lodge and Mr. Shiv, the in-house naturalist guided us on our safaris. He is extremely knowledgeable and it was a pleasure to learn more about the flora and fauna of Pench from him. We stayed for three nights and at the end of it wished we could spend more time here. I'd highly recommend this property because I'm sure it'll make you want to keep coming back.
Exceptional Jungle Retreat
This was the first time that we planned a Jungle Safari holiday with the family. We had some clear requirements - 1. Comfortable and spacious accommodation 2. Safe and hassle-free airport pickup and drop 3. Good safari experience with knowledgeable naturalists 4. Good food 5. Interesting resort activities On researching with this thought process, Pugdundee Safaris ticked all the boxes. Thanks to all the positive and encouraging reviews on Trip Advisor, we finalised Pench Tree Lodge. Ram, from the sales team, was very helpful in clearing our doubts and helping us with the bookings of both, the accommodation and the National Park safari. The pick up from Nagpur Airport was punctual with good condition vehicles and professional drivers. We had a relaxed drive to the Lodge. On arrival we were greeted by an enthusiastic team led by Harish, who explained the concept of Pugdundee Safaris and the ecosystem of the resort, which had us looking forward to our stay there. The 40 acre resort has 12 cottages and 6 treehouses. We had booked 1 of each. The cottages were super spacious with a mezzanine floor also having double bed, which can easily accommodate a family of 4. The tree house was smaller in comparison, but had its own adventurous vibe. Both accommodations were well attended. Rooms were equipped with tea and coffee with a French press, torches, multiple sit-outs and spacious bathrooms. The entire resort is designed in a way that you feel you are nestled in a forest. Pugdundee resorts are also doing their bit for the environment by making all their resorts no-plastic zones. The highlight of Pench Tree Lodge experience was the safari and the in-resort activities. Our safaris were led by Shiv, who was an exceptional naturalist, very passionate about the jungle. The 5 hours of safari spent with him were filled with a lot of information about jungle experience. Shiv played a very important role in us enjoying our safaris. The whole game drive, tracking the elusive tiger and Shiv’s expert comments on various alert calls was an exhilarating experience. The resort also offers Nature Walk and a trip to the organic farm on the property. Chef Pankaj and his team provided a delicious menu with a lot of local delicacies. We had also opted for a special family outdoor dinner. The whole setup was so memorable and beautiful, I would like to thank everyone who set it up. Overall it was a great experience and the people at Pench Tree Lodge made it all the more memorable. A big thanks to Harish, Shiv Sarve, Vinod, Shiv Prasad and Chef Pankaj. Tips for travellers: 1. When travelling from Nagpur to the resort, there are very limited stopover options. Plan accordingly 2. No food items are recommended inside the rooms, to keep away rodents. Hence the resort also does not provide room service. 3. Though all cottages have good privacy, Cottage 1 is to the extreme end of the property and has more privacy. 4. The resort has poor mobile network. The wifi provided by the resort is also not adequate. 5. Though tree houses are a great experience, there is a constant noise due to Mahua fruits constantly falling on the roof top. Also in summers, the tree houses were quite hot compared to cottages. 6. We recommend booking safaris through the resort for a much better vehicle quality, food and naturalist.
