A delightful haven
We had a truly wonderful stay at the Spice Village in early March and have come home with the happiest of memories of this beautiful, peaceful haven. We were sad to leave and would love to return one day. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly and highly professional. The cottage was spotless and extremely comfortable. The grounds are exquisite with many different and interesting trees and shrubs. And the hotel arranges all sorts of free activities for the guests - wildlife talks, yoga classes, dance performances etc - which were a joy to attend. It was a delightful stay there and we would recommend the hotel without hesitation.
Perfect resort in Periyar
Another fine Cgh Earth property located in the lovely town of Thekaddy. We had two nights there and could have happily stayed for more. Our cottage (deluxe with private garden - previously occupied by Sir Paul McCartney no less) was very spacious with a large sitting room, entrance hall, bedroom and bathroom. Nice welcome and escort to room, good housekeeping and room service, excellent breakfast selection and delicious suppers. We loved the Woodhouse bar complete with billiards table and the 50 Mile restaurant with all produce sourced within that range (really nice dosas). Pool looked fine but we never had the time to enjoy! Recommend the Lake Periyar boating and the half-day hike and rafting trips.
Service levels maintained under pressing circumstances
An exceptional situation, We stayed here for two nights ending when the Keralan government closed all hotels in the state to overseas tourists due to the Coronavirus situation., obliging us to return to Tamil Nadu. The staff remained uniformly friendly, helpful, and cheerful with us, the tiny remaining number of guests, even though they knew they were about to be laid off without pay. So here's to them. We'd go back if it ever becomes practical.
one of my favourite hotels in kerala
We had a wonderful stay here in the forest. Beautiful cottage suite with a huge living room area and a little garden. And a monkey in the tree just outside! The staff were incredibly friendly especially Sarath the amazing naturalist who taught me such a lot.Enjoyed our forest walk and the bullock cart ride was one of my highlights of kerala. A must do! My only complaint was the pool was a bit chilly! But often quite welcome in the heat. Also the best massge of my trip.
Visit to A. Woods Bar
It is probably the best bar in Kumily in terms of ambience and range of drinks available. The ambience is colonial and there is a distinct old world charm to this place. The staff are also friendly. Spice Village, where the bar is located, is a tourist resort and seems to be popular with foreign tourists.
