Classy property but struggling to manage the sudden rush
Pros: The location is lovely. The hotel has a vintage feel with beautiful teak wood furniture, classical music playing in the background, stone arches and slate roofs like some fantasy castle. The service despite covid was spotty but mostly on target. When we asked for difficult to procure medicines, they managed to get it somehow. The jacuzzi and pool section is fabulous with a GREAT view. The hotel is well maintained and classy. Cons: Food is a real downer as it was basic. I don't think it was appropriate for a place that charges 30k rupees+ a night. Most of the times I didn't enjoy the breakfast spread. The chhole, akuri, the pav bhaji, etc was bland, cold and unfit for any five-star hotel. Some of the continental food like the ravioli and the tortelli was nice but typical. In contrast, similar hotels in India such as the Taj Rambagh and Lake Palace really impressed us with their gourmet food. Regarding the activities, we had asked if we should book in advance and they constantly told us to come there and then see. But after we landed there, the picnics were all sold out. Finally they relented and offered us some picnic spot but it left a bad taste in our mouth. It almost felt like they were not interested to coordinate the activities. The kids' activity room was basic. My son waited for an hour and nobody came to start the video game and they just started YouTube and left. If I had to make him watch YouTube, I would have done that in my own house. As more people come during these lockdowns, greater care should be taken to ensure people have a good but also SAFE experience. it felt like the front desk was reeling under the pressure of so many checkouts and check-ins at the same time.
Hats off to the head Chef!
We’ve been to so many hotels across the country but never came across anything like the Wildflower Shimla! We stayed there in April ‘21 and were particularly impressed by the top class hospitality! The staff was so warm and the service was impeccable! Special mention to the chef that took such good care of us. Looking forward
Excellent service & most hospitable staff. The staff doesn’t use the word no at any time! One of the finest properties we have stayed at in India, we truly loved it here! Special mention to Prashant Trivedi, Ujjwal, Trisheeta & Shivam. They took great care of us on our trip and made us feel so warm & welcome. This is true of the entire Wildflower Team! 🙌🏻 The strawberry trail must not be missed!
It had been a while since the family had travelled together…..thanks to COVID ;( The Wildflower Hall had always been on my husband’s wish list but somehow, we never ended up going there. It is like a colonial hill station home with its library, cards room and intimate seating arrangements. The magnificence of the hotel left us awed but what was more interesting was the history of the place. It is the former residence of Lord Kitchener that got burnt before it was taken over by the Oberoi group. No surprises here but my favorite part was definitely the Jacuzzi that overlooked the mountains. Is there a better way to spend a vacation than to sit in the hot Jacuzzi and stare at the pretty mountains with people you love the most!! However, what made our experience SO special was not just the property. It was the wonderful team at Wildflower Hall. If I’ve to put it in one sentence- hospitality at its best. Every member of the team contributed to make our stay special, be it the staff in the restaurant or in the lobby or at the pool, but very special thanks to LALITA who attended us at front desk. The dining area was so pretty so was Himachali food !! The Wild Strawberry Trail skirting the sanctuary , the forest - trekking and seeing - the trees, the flowers, the insects. What a wonderful experience! Thankyou ISHAN for taking our first picture at wildflower-best one. Once again thank you LALITA and wonderful wildflower team...keep it up:)
Exceptional Hospitality, Property, Locale & Guest Service. Words cannot express the warm, par excellence hospitality handed to our family by the GM, Mr Vishal Virmani & his team (Ms.Tshering, Mr Prashant & Mr Sachin) who took note and immaculate care of smallest of details and made our stay at the fabulous property an absolute treat. Deeply touched by the gesture of the GM & his whole team waving us goodbye at the driveaway with folded hands on our departure from the property. Will cherish the stay forever and look forward to returning to this absolute gem very shortly. Our best regards to the whole Wildflower Team
