Set on a hillside overlooking golden sands and the sparkling waters of the Aegean Sea, the Grace is one of Mykonos’ most luxurious boutique properties and it prides itself on its exceptional service. Its appearance is award-winning and effortlessly attractive, incorporating traditional elements and local craftsmanship into a simple, elegant design. Begin the day here as you mean to go on – in style, with a late à la carte Champagne breakfast. Juice is even squeezed to order. Then lounge the afternoon away poolside on one of the cool king-size sun beds. If you want to explore, let the concierge – who has the best contacts on the island – recommend a ‘Bespoke by Grace’ experience to you based on your interests. A treatment from the Boutique Spa is the ideal way to complete a day of indulgence, whether it’s a facial or a full body massage. For food, The Grace Restaurant serves up contemporary Greek cuisine in sophisticated surroundings, either indoors or poolside. The Grace pool bar is white-washed and wooden, and tempts guests with refreshing cocktails, cool beers and crisp refreshing wine. Rooms are set over five levels and are light, understated and elegant. There’s a wide range to choose from, some with their own heated plunge pool, but all have high-spec furnishings as standard. If only the best will do, opt for the Honeymoon Suite on the hotel’s highest level for a pretty French window opening onto a portico, plus a private terrace with plunge pool, or the VIP Suite – which is reached by its own exclusive lift.
Mykonos Theoxenia is an original ’60s hotel with a rich history and status. Stay here and you’ll be following in stylish footsteps – previous guests include Jackie Onassis. Part of the Louis Hotels Group and member of the Design Hotels, the hotel is a national preserved property thanks to its innovative style and architecture showcasing local stone and craftsmanship. It’s since been renovated, but retains a sense of ’60s glam and the low-rise design gives a private, intimate feel. The palm-fringed pool is the focal point of the hotel, and you’ll just need to decide whether to opt for a poolside lounger or a four-poster day bed with drapes. Either way, you’ll be able to soak up views of the floral gardens, Mediterranean Sea and iconic white windmills in peace. There’s a lot of care and attention given to the food here and it’s beautifully presented. Breakfast at The Plate is particularly good – it’s served buffet-style, but the choices change daily and you’ll find delicious premium produce. Breeze Out restaurant serves up a new all-day dining menu for lunch and dinner, while the Breeze In bar offers an extensive cocktail list, headed up by the signature Theoxenia Vertigo and served in mason jars and other creative glassware. Stylish rooms have a neutral colour palette and subtle ’60s throwbacks with patterned feature walls and fabrics. All have a balcony or terrace. Classic Double Rooms have garden or sea views, while Deluxe Sea Front Rooms have a lounge area and a raised bedroom area.
With sugar-cube Cycladic style and a striking two-tier infinity pool which seems to tip over into the Aegean Sea, Mykonos Blu Grecotel Exclusive Resort has an exquisite location above iconic Psarou Beach and sits in prime position for the super-luxe shops and nightlife of Mykonos Town. Demand is high for a spot on Psarou, but with the hotel’s exclusive private beach area just steps away from your room, there are complimentary loungers, umbrellas and waiter service for guests. The hotel’s stone walls, crisp white linens and accents of cool blue are an extension of the mesmerising sea views and there are plenty of chill-out sofas and terraces to catch shade whilst enjoying fresh Greek flavours sourced from the hotel’s organic farm at contemporary Aegean Poets restaurant or poolside Brasserie L’Archipel. This exclusive hideaway is more like your own private beach house with luxury bungalows leading out to private pools and lavish breakfast spreads served until late afternoon. Delos Lounge sees ouzo and Champagne served as the sun disappears into yacht-lined waters, or you can slink off for a private dining experience in-suite or on the beach. The morning after brings preening opportunities in the Elixir Spa with an extravagant sea scrub or facial before grabbing your beach towel and lapping the pool. The blue-on-white open-plan rooms and bungalows are spacious and airy with contemporary comforts. Some feature private pools or outdoor Jacuzzis. Clustered in small groups throughout the hotel, Island Garden Rooms offer a chic and stylish space and gorgeous garden views.
Kouros Hotel & Suites is a calm refuge on the fringes of sizzling Mykonos Town, but close enough to dip in and out of its labyrinthine core. You can even see the capital, with its white huddle of houses tumbling down to the harbour, from the outdoor terrace. But the ultimate view goes to the knockout sunsets. Nab one of the low-slung white armchairs to watch the sky streak pink and lilac. Right on the water, a large swimming pool overlooks the Aegean and is flanked by a handful of cushioned loungers – the perfect spot for sun-drenched days. Elsewhere, a cave spa is a cozy cocoon for massages and body treatments beneath curving stone arches. The open-sided restaurant is stunning, with the sea framed in every half-moon window and wooden fishermen basket-style lamps illuminating exposed brick walls and smooth stone floors. A scattering of tables spills outside onto the terrace, with the pool to one side, the Aegean the other. Traditional Greek cuisine is given a modern spin, with the food as artfully presented as it is delicious. Rooms are minimalist-chic in style, with gallery-white walls showcasing eclectic art and sculptures. A scattering of rattan furniture, coastal murals and hanging basket lamps nods to the island surroundings. Sea views come as standard, but the room to book is the Deluxe Suite with Private Pool, which has a glorious infinity pool.
