AMAZING! The resort is based on 3 pillars. Eat, sleep and beach. To say the food is served outside under very nice tents would be an understatement… What an experience to sit outside overlooking the ocean with dolphins jumping around. Yes Dolphins. Granted they are not there every night, but that would be too much. The chef and his crew prepare excellent greek dishes with a modern touch. Thankfully not too modern. Due to the secluded location it is very quiet. The rooms are very spacious and luxuriously equipped. The internet works very well everywhere. The beach is private with very comfortable, Sunbeds, umbrellas, towels, and a great beach service is included. The water itself is beautifully clean. No water sports except the pink inflatable flamingo. The star of the beach. The staff are amazing!!! All of them are excellent hosts, friendly and smiling all the time, hence mentioning names would not be fair. Thank you!
…and we’re back! Another excellent stay.
After having such a fantastic stay last year, we booked Avaton again this year, bringing our extended family in tow for 8 days. Angelika and her team made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. Our highlights this year: - the two bedroom pool villa was excellent, it was really great to have a separate room for the two year old and the outdoors space was great for having aperitifs with the extended family before dinner. The washing machine also proved invaluable for our 8 day stay (high rate of clothes turnover due to small child!). Our room was always spotless after housekeeping. The standalone Jo Malone products (in addition to the Thierry Mugler) was a really nice touch. - service at the restaurant was faultless and everyone was very catering towards our two year old, helping to keep him entertained during the lovely long languorous evening meals! - The food. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant every day and one can never get bored of the view or the tasty dishes served up by the chef - the truffle mushroom parpadelle was my go to dish! Breakfast was amazing as well, one is never want for anything. - We had quite an age range in our party (2-70 plus) and a pregnant person as well, but there was something for everyone and the entire group had a great time. There is always a danger of chasing that high when the standards are set high the first time you go (see my first review for details). I’m happy to report that the Avaton team has maintained, if not exceeded our expectations this year. Thank you again to Angelika, Irene, Yiannis, Lefertis, Remi and the entire team, we look forward to returning in the future!
Amazing Resort for Relaxation!
Avaton Luxury Hotel - Relais & Chateaux is an amazing resort combining perfect accommodation for relaxation at one of the best beaches of Halkidiki. The food menus, to the Relais & Chateaux standards, tastes great and is offered in ample quantities. Above all, I would like to praise all the staff for their great service, politeness and their smiling faces!!! Congratulations to all of the Avaton team!
Loved this hotel
Our first trip abroad since the beginning of the pandemic and we were so happy with our choice of hotel. All dining is alfresco and the only time we were inside was in our apartment so no masks necessary and felt so safe from Covid-19. The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient the food was superb. We had one issue where we were locked out of our room due to a faulty lock but this was resolved speedily with all necessary people engaged to resolve the problem and we were given a complimentary massage to make up for the inconvenience to us. The beach location was perfect for us. It is remote from any external amenities so if you want to be out and about off site you need to hire a car.
Before you book this hotel, do ask yourself what your expectations are from a holiday. We found our experience quite frustrating for the money we had paid. For €730 a night , we got a very bad deal. The hotel does not have a common pool, or even a lobby. The so called private pools are mere plunge pools and nothing else. There is only one restaurant and the food is nice but we got half board and eating at the same restaurant for 7 nights got a bit boring. The rooms have very low ceilings and I banged my head into the ceiling twice and I am not even tall. For €730 a night, they didn’t even offer free water bottles or tea/coffee in the room. However, on bringing this up to the staff, they started providing that. I just wish we had done more research as, for far less than that we could have found a full board 5* vacation that would have been far more fulfilling. The hotel provides very basic facilities e.g. there is no turn down service in the evenings. I think we went with quite high expectations, it being a Raleigh and Chateau resort and happily paid that money because of the name, but sadly, it didn’t come up to our expectations.
