Appalling breach of trust
Now is the time we all think about booking our hard earned holiday. Do not trust these guys with your hard earned holiday ... There are some great hotels on Crete this is not one of them. I want to give you the context, share our experience. We have four precious days a year together (4, 50 year old friends) and in 2019 we picked Domes of Elounda. The night before we were due to travel they cancelled our accommodation (we were paid up in full) they left us with no viable option or alternative. They had benefited from our money for months, but left us with a massive problem. I think that nothing defines a brand like the way they solve problems when they arise. We were dumped. Our compensation was an offer to use their restaurant and facilities - which seems so back to front! We took them up on that offer on our first night (we found a hotel that could take us). We were met in the car park, and ‘handled’ throughout our time at the hotel. We were escorted to the buffet canteen where we joined all the children for dinner. We left humiliated and upset. We did not go back, swallowed our anger and enjoyed our new environment. Note: They did pay our money back but only after we had paid for the other hotel.
Lovely hotel in great location
We were very fortunate to be upgraded and spent a fantastic week in one of the villas overlooking spinalonga island. The complex is quite large so depending on how far you want to walk you may want to select which part you stay in. The food was delicious and a great variety and selection to choose from. Unfortunately in April the outside pools were too cold to go in. Service was very good, not much entertainment in the evening but we were staying just at the beginning of the season so it may be better during peak time.
Not family friendly
5 star hotel pretending to be family friendly but really very focused to glitzy couples. Very hard to navigate as the hotel is on a severe slope with children. Very expensive for what I felt was a family experience. There are better and cheaper European family experiences.
Best holiday ever
We had such a wonderful holiday here in September. This hotel really is one of the best we have ever stayed in - we couldn't fault it at all. The staff were absolutely amazing with us and pretty much treated us like royalty throughout our stay. They were all so professional, friendly and lovely with kids too - there are so many hotels out there who could learn a thing or two from them! The hotel is stunning, cleanliness second-to-none, the food delicious - they change the buffet menu every night which prevents boredom and the location is just beautiful with a perfect beach for little ones. The creche facilities and staff were fabulous too. I can't really wait to return. It was one of our ever best holidays! Thanks so much to everyone there for making it so special for us.
Will Definitely Return
We spent three or four days here in late August and enjoyed every moment of it. Wish we had spent a full week. I had never driven in Crete before but found it a very easy. almost a straight shot, from the Heraklion airport. The room was wonderful, though next time I'll probably spend more and go for a dome room. Still our room faced the bay and the views were beautiful. Gorgeous sunrises in the morning and the sun sets behind the lip of the ridge behind the hotel in the evening. The food was excellent, with a buffet breakfast and several restaurants on site for dinner. The Japanese fusion restaurant was especially good. Recommend booking dinner reservations in advance in the July/August high season. Greece is full of history of course and the bay has the island fortress of Spinalonga in the middle of it. 50 euro for a private boat ride over to it where you can walk the trails. Highly recommended. Of course Heraklion and the Minoan ruins are only about an hour away as well.
