Perfect and Beautiful
This was our first stay at Daios Cove but it definitely won't be our last. This resort is amazing, luxury touches abound. Everything was top quality, from the building materials to the room furnishings, the food at the buffets to the spa treatments. The staff was so welcoming, accommodating, friendly. The rooms were kept wonderfully clean. I loved the food, how the chefs incorporated local produce and herbs from the island. And the wine list was a lovely surprise. As well as having a large selection of wines from around the world, it included Greek wines, including many from Crete, which were wonderful. Our new favorite wine is one that we introduced to at Daios Cove.
Absolute Luxury - Book Immediately!
Daios Cove is the definition of Luxury. We will not hesitate to return however, will leave some recommendations for improvement as a couple of tweaks could really help. Note -stayed in Deluxe Suite on Residents Club package. Positives: - Food: We did not try the buffet restaurant for dinner because it was not necessary. There were 3 wonderful restaurants. 1) Beach House: Our favourite for both dinner and lunch. Menu exceptional. Dont feel the need to always get starter/main/dessert. I actually often ordered a starter followed by a starter and salad as the appetisers were so appealing! Staff wonderful. Setting BEAUTIFUL! Beef tartare is beautiful and salmon tartare for lunch is excellent!!! 2) Taverna: Larger portions here and again lovely setting overlooking the cove. Lamb shank on risotto probably THE dish of the holiday! LOVED it! 3) Ocean: Wonderful place for dinner, sat inside so nice and cool. Prawn Risotto was outstanding as were the dessert options. Slightly classier and therefore a grat opportunity to dress up:) 4) the Pool bar food/beach food sunbeds - bang on delish! Lamb Pitta was a game changer 5) Room service was always quick and efficient, you must try the bao buns Caveat the above - all of what we had was included within the residents package there are very few items across the resort which are not included in this package. However, individual prices were quite steep (food is excellent, so it is fair) but my recommendation ultimately is to upgrade to RC. Drinks: Outstanding. Pretty much everything was included. Veuve cliquot, south African chenin , NZ Sav, malbecs , different beers draft and bottles. EXCEPTIONAL! I have NEVER been on an All inclusive package which is as extensive and wonderful as this. Pool - just beautiful, lovely views and could spend a lot of time in the smaller adult pool reading Beach - wonderful. Lots of options for beach beds etc... which i loved, could sit right at the front. Service continuous and all drinks and food included here too. Great temperature and loved being able to swim out and back several times. Much better swim than the pool. We also took advantage of the paddle boards and the jet skis which were not in the package, but well worth the extra investment. Bars: Multiple places to go for a drink, we particularly liked being able to sit by the pool after dinner for a quick drink before going to bed. Excellent cocktail options and even if they are not in the booklet, you can still order things like espresso martinis or the classic cocktails you will love. Loved the little wasabi pea and hazelnut pots we received throughout the trips across all bars. We also used the pool bar extensively. Service: Throughout the entire trip we experienced no poor service and everyone was incredibly accommodating and polite. I loved the staff at the pool bar who were always on hand (remembering our room number!!!) to share drinks etc... No wristbands: you have to sign and type your room number everytime you order as opposed to wearing any form of wristband etc... I would say this is an AWESOME idea because it feels more accomodating and seeing a $0 is very satisfying :D Better than a tacky wristband :D Improvements: - Tips: I haven't been to an AI before where tipping is standard. I think giving some guidance to the customer upfront would be useful as every time you process and order it asks if you want to tip. I must add I NEVER felt under pressure to tip, but guidance appreciated. - Marketing/Sales collateral: Before booking I hesitated because the residents club package wasnt clear to me. In the material ahead of booking, I kept reading about exceptions etc... but there are so so so few! I think you could bring in more visitors if you share how amazing residents is! - Pool temperature: As many have said, I think the pool could have some additional heat by 1-2 degrees. It felt pretty cold to get in to everyday, it was fine once in but there was some hesitation. I understand the weather impacts this but I believe getting it to a slightly higher temperature would be a good adjustment. Children: The children were not a problem. The only challenge we had was when they got in to the adult pool and the staff did not ask them to get out. I would prefer not to have children in the designated adult areas. Overall, we adored it and would love to return one day.
Made his 50th just perfect!
I booked this trip (before the craziness that is Covid-19 turned the world upsidedown) as a surprise for my husband to celebrate his 50th birthday. Naturally I could not keep it as a surprise in the weeks leading up to the trip and we really didn't know how it would pan out and if we were doing the right thing by going. We are soooo glad we did go. What a glorious 5 days we had. The staff, the room, the restaurants, the food, the pools, the beach, absolutely everything was 1st class. It must be so difficult for the staff working during these difficult times and yet nothing seems like too much trouble, and even if they are wearing a mask rather than a visor you can still see the warm smile in their eyes. What an amazing team they are! This is our 2nd trip to The Cove and it won't be our last. Thank you for making Andreas 50th birthday so special and for such wonderful relaxing holiday.
We didn’t know what to expect travelling during the Covid backdrop however Daios (and Crete) exceeded our expectations. The resort is just stunning and we felt so safe there. Daios is a top class hotel, gorgeous location, great rooms and amazing food. We were all inclusive and to get a la carte restaurants of high class and branded champagne included is rare in Europe. Staff were also fantastic and we will definitely return with family and friends!
Fantastic & extraordinary
Daios Cove perfectly integrated in the landscape of the by offers fantastic views to the turquoise sea from the terrace of your suite. The suites are spacious, most of them equipped with private pools, a perfect hideaway and playground for the kids. Talking about the sea, you'll find fantastic conditions for snorcheling along the coast facing a tremendios number of small to medium sized fish, sea snails, hermit crabs and sea stars. We really had a fantastic time with snorcheling, swimming and great food. One of our favourites was the grilled octopus @ocean, the veggie tacos and duck bao buns. The Kids Club was a perfect addition in the evenings to play around with other kids with welcoming employees, which was the reason why our daughter spent every evening there after dinner. From the entry to your leave you feel the warm and welcoming spirit of this extraordinary place and the people taking care of you during your visit.
