Feeling a little underwhelmed
We visited the Oceania last year and were blown away. It was amazing. Right from arrival this time at Dassia, it just didn’t quite measure up. Instead of being taken to a separate room and handed champagne when we arrived at Oceania, this time we were in the lobby bar which was very busy and we had quite a wait before we were offered drinks. Not the deluxe priority check in we were expecting. We had the same 2 bed deluxe suite as last year but with the addition of our own pool, and the room was fantastic, as was the pool. Unfortunately it was next to the main pool area which was really loud and busy, and we were expecting it to be next to the deluxe pool as it was at Oceania. Instead it was quite a trek to the deluxe pool, which just had views of buildings and most of the sun beds were gone before 10am. At Oceania there were always beds available at any time of the day and the views were beautiful. This time the deluxe pool just didn’t measure up. The restaurants were great, as was the service but we were unable to get a reservation at Anaya. A couple we met (non deluxe guests!) managed to eat there twice during there stay so it was disappointing to not be able to get in. The promised dinner on the beach was actually on Vido island. We were not informed of this change and were very upset not to get dinner on the beach as it was the best dining experience at Oceania. Apparently they are no longer allowed to serve dinner on the beach but this was not communicated to us. Had we not checked where we were supposed to be going, we would not have known we needed to get a boat to the island and would have missed our reservation. The meal was on a wooden pontoon and there was a serious mosquito problem, so they handed you a can of insect repellent spray when you arrived, which was quite off putting. It was badly organised and the service was dreadful and when the meal finally arrived it was cold. Having paid double what we did last year, it certainly wasn’t value for money, the experience wasn’t as luxurious and being deluxe really didn’t mean that much. If I am paying £15k for a weeks holiday, I really expect to get in to all of the restaurants and to get a sun lounger round our designated pool. Really feel that ikos has got too big and the special touches are getting lost. We were also promised a bottle of Taittinger champagne on arrival and got sparkling wine - not really acceptable for what we paid. However, the staff were incredible and really went out of their way for you. In particular, Thanos was incredibly helpful and the theatre crew, especially Mario, went out of their way to make our 8 year old feel welcome. A lovely holiday but just not as special as we were expecting, based on our visit to Oceania last year.
The Amazing Ikos Dassia 😘😘😘
Wow from the moment we arrived at the Ikos Dassia we were impressed immediately. This hotel and group is truly unbelievable. From the aesthetics, the facilities, the food and beverages the ultra all inclusive and ultimately the crowning Jewel in the group is their extremely well trained, professional and polite staff. They all work so hard and go out of their way to really make your holiday special and always greet you with a smile. They are all so special and we wish we could mention everyone but here’s a few members of staff that we would like to mention who made our stay even more special; Natalia Ramon (in the pic) she’s an amazing ambassador for Ikos and did so much for us to make our sons birthday so special. Thank you Natalia x Nathalie Heijkoop also from guest relations and Lina and Masa two amazing twin sisters from the beach and pool area. Dimitris the bar manager at the sky bar and Jana at the sky bar who’s so wonderful as well. Please also try your best to tip the staff as they work tirelessly and not many people end up tipping due to the all inclusive scenario but we tried to as much as possible to show our gratitude. We will definitely be returning to the ikos group and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Thanks so much Ikos we love you 😘 😘😘
Best Ikos yet
Only just recently got back from the Ikos Dassia having stayed at the Olivia last year , we much preferred the Dassia, only fifteen minutes transfer from the airport, and the views are fantastic, We actually stayed on the same site some eighteen years ago, when thomsons had the two hotels, Dassia Chandris, and Corfu Chandris, The Ikos chain have taken these over , and wow , what a transformation , We were checked in by a Spanish girl her first day at the hotel, no sign of the whats app people mention, but she took us through everything , We were whisked up to room 1331 in the sea building, a junior suite, with stunning views over to Albania, The first thing I done was to check out room service, we both like gin , so I asked if we coulod have a bottle of Tanqueray, within five minutes , a knock at the door , and they brought up a litre bottle , with six shweppes tonic mixers, hows that for service?, We spent most of our days at the sea adult pool, where the girls look after you like royalty, regulary offering drinks, smoothies, toasted sandwitches, tuna wraps, melon etc, as said before, there is also a guy who come around cleaning your sunglasses, We used the beach a few times, again , service was very good , water warm , and clear, For dining , we had breakfast every morning in the flavours buffet, everything under the sun available, you could also eat in a few of the a la cartes for breakfast as well, we managed to eat in all of the a la cartes , either for evening meal, or lunch time , we particulary liked Ergon Deli for lunch, as its right next to the sea adult pool , menus are exactly the same as the Olivia last year , We were going to go to the Vido island eat out option , but despite what other reviewers have said , its not closed down due to storm damage, the Ikos chain have acually bought the place, and are in the process of doing it up , so we went to the rex in Corfu town instead , again , nowhere near as bad as people have made out , lovely food, and nice to have a look around Corfu town , We also done the sunset boat cruise , again, very good, stopped in front of the Durrels house, as a big fan of the tv series, that was great for me , Saw the shows every night, Josh and the team done well, again , if youve been to the Olivia, the shows were exactly the same as last year to the word, it killed an hour though, Didnt take the mini Cooper out, as i dont drive, and Sandras not too keen on driving abroad, although it seemed a popular thing , As i said , having been to Dassia before , we went out in the village for a walk , a few evenings, just to break it up a bit , a couple of nice gift shops there for pressies, and called into a few bars we went into years ago , its only one busy road running through the village . In conclusion, a fantastic holiday, everything that has been said on here is true , the service from all of the staff is fantistic , and i would not hesitate coming back again, Ps , i have never seen so many butterflies in the lovely gardens in my life , happy holidays Nigel and Sandra.
Another great holiday at an Ikos resort
We stayed for 10 nights at Dassia following a fantastic holiday last year at Ikos Olivia so it had a lot to live up to .... and it did! The staff are so attentive and friendly which makes you feel relaxed and well looked after the minute you arrive. Ria at the sea pool who was brilliant deserves a special mention. The food in all the restaurants was amazing, we especially liked Ouzo. We used the mini for a day which was a great perk and took advantage of the tennis, table tennis, canoes and pedalos on offer. We have already booked Ikos Aria for next summer and will definitely return to Dassia again as Corfu is beautiful! Thank you for a perfect break.
My 2nd Visit to Ikos Dassia
I stayed here for 5 nights last year (end of May) and had a fantastic stay due to the amazing Dominika whom I had met the year before at Ikos Olivia. Dominika was assistant deluxe manager and I also met her wonderful husband Bogdan. I could not wait to return. I arrived on 29th May this year (it was my husbands birthday) and was informed that Dominika was having this season off. I have always maintained that the biggest asset of Ikos is it's amazing staff. This year I had the lovely Veronika overseeing anything she could do to make my holiday even better. Veronika was delightful and very professional. She welcomed my husband and I with bubbles then showed us to our bungalow. Veronika gave us her mobile number - just in case we needed ANYTHING. Our bungalow was just in front of the one I stayed in last year. There was a large birthday cake, fresh fruit and a bottle of champagne. Because we were arriving about 5pm I decided not to book a restaurant and to visit Flavors at our convenience. Flavors was having an asian theme and normally I would be very happy with that but we had chinese the night before.I asked if we could get into a restaurant. Veronika had left for the evening so I asked for Mr Bogdan who really went out of his way (and being half term and fully booked ) and got us a table at Fresco. Thank you Bogdan we had a truly wonderful evening with another birthday cake more bubbles and an unforgettable rendition of 'Happy birthday' Being a repeater I was also very pleasantly surprised that the menu's in the restaurants had changed and I personally think they are better than before - The deluxe pool is now managed by PETROS who is a fantastic and warm and very professional. He very quickly learnt what we liked and delivered without us even asking. He is a great asset to Ikos and effortlessly made sure we were looked after and kept the atmosphere so good that we didn't bother with the beach. I am missing his smiling face and welcome words. There was several BBQ's around the deluxe pool that offered meat ,prawns, salads, potatoes and dips all cooked to perfection. The girls at the deluxe pool remembered me from last year and again gave great service - throughout the day with iced flannels, Canapes of tuna wraps and fresh fruit smoothies. Thank you all. My 5 night stay flew by and even our checkout was amazing. Bogdan, Petros, Katerina, Christina and Veronika all came to reception with a gift to say goodbye. Ikos your staff are so special, truly the greatest and are the MAIN reason I keep coming back. I am going to Oceania for the 3rd time in September and I have just booked Ikos Andalusia when it opens in May - Can't wait x
