Not accesible for seniors, outdated rooms and plumbing
Had booked 2 deluxe ocean view bungelows, for 4 retirees from USA. Most rooms involve climbing many steep stone steps with no railings. We refused assigned rooms which we couldn't access, and were relocated into one "family" suite with fewer steps with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Very inconvenient. On the 2nd day the entire suite flooded as the toilet stopped up. We weren't told not to discard toilet paper in the commode. It was horrible. No financial adjusment was made. The rooms and furnishings are dated, the plumbing ancient. IF YOU ARE HANDICAPPED, OR PHYSICALLY DISABLED IN ANY WAY, DO NOT GO HERE. After a wonderful cruise to Greece we were so disappointed in this resort. The staff was friendly and the food was fine.
Good in places, poor in others ...
This hotel is definitely above average, but definitely doesn’t deserve a ‘VERY good” rating ... In summary - Delightful pool, lounge, & grounds, room a bit shabby & dated, bathroom cramped ... The outlook of this hotel is beautiful, overlooking the sea, the hills, and the Temple of Poseidon, and it is placed in a tranquil location. The ‘common’ areas of the hotel were really nice and welcoming, especially the outdoor pool area (salt water), the gardens, the main lounge with a covered terrace beyond. These facilities looked modern and clean, with thoughtful design touches. The hotel layout was such that there was a bit of a walk between our room and the main building / pool, although for those wanting transport, this was available through the use of electric buggies which would pick you up or drop you off on request. The staff were all friendly and helpful, although trying to get evening drinks outside the main lounge on the terrace always seemed problematic - possibly due to insufficient staff. There was a pleasant private beach area (sand & shingle), and to one side a small restaurant, which we didn’t use, but looked welcoming on the waterfront. Our room (chalet) came with a small garden, terrace and small private pool, which was all nice and charming, but it was the room itself that was a disappointment: there wasn’t a separate bathroom, as this was divided from the room by a bi-folding screen, with the bathroom section itself being a tight squeeze. The shower was inside the bath, right above the curvature at one end, so it was not ideal trying to get showered without losing one’s balance ! The toilet, again small, did have a door, although of frosted glass ... Both bathroom and toilet had seen better days. While it seemed evident that the ‘common’ areas already mentioned had had a fairly recent ‘makeover’, it was clear that the rooms, or at least certainly ours, hadn’t. The general fabric of the room, and especially the bathroom, was very tired as well as being somewhat dated. The buffet-style breakfast had plenty of choice, and although it doesn’t compare favourably with some of the other hotels we’ve stayed at, it was still more than adequate. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here, and given our experiences I would rate it as above average, but only just ...
This area is worth visiting if only just for the beautiful views. You wont be able to stop taking photos. There are many places to walk but not too difficult. It is easy for most people. It costs 5 euro each to enter the Archelogical site there but it is worth it.
Beautiful resort, very friendly staff
Firstly, we really enjoyed our stay here! Yes, the rooms are a bit dated (especially, unfortunately, the bed, which was far too soft and the cover sheets were most annoying, because they were just too short to cover the mattress while you were tossing and turning at night, became lose and you ended up sleeping on the bare mattress, which was not a nice thing since there were a couple of spots - at least in bungalow #306), but despite not sleeping too well, I give 4 stars for the sheer beauty of the area, the immaculate landscaping, the food and the really friendly staff. And that’s a first for me, because usually, my reviews depend a lot on the quality of my sleep... We had half board included and we loved the morning and evening buffets. In previous reviews there was criticism that the foods do not include pricey stuff and indeed if you’re waiting for things like lobster and beef fillets, you’ll be disappointed. But the food that they put on the buffet is well done, tender and tasty and they offer a huge variety, I’ve never seen so many breakfast choices before and many of the small details were so cute (the pomegranate seeds on the fruit salad for example, the choices of fresh fruit juices/smoothies, the pastries) that I didn’t miss a single prawn (although I’m quite fond of them...). The staff was very friendly as well, spoke good English and German and was very attentive. I’d try to book another room category next time (maybe a french double bed doesn’t have the sheet problems?!), but I’d totally stay here again.
Well situated family hotel
The pluses are that this is a well appointed hotel, good facilities especially the spa area, nice beach and a very good range of foods. The major negative is that there are smokers everywhere many of which have absolutely no consideration for other people. Whilst our room with private pool was very nice our neighbours appeared to be chain smokers who aggressively declined my request to consider our kids before they lit up. There was no option to move rooms despite asking a couple of times. Also whilst service in the common areas was generally very good, room service is mixed, some days things got cleaned and coffee etc machines restocked and not so on others.
