Great for family
Loved the experience, friendly & understanding staff especially when u have kids & nothing goes as planned. We celebrated our daughter's birthday. I managed to order fruit cake at the resort & it was lovely. Simple yet tasty and not too pricey. Appreciate the staffs understanding to allow us to take dinner in our room as our birthday girl fell asleep at the dinning table. They even prepared my daughter's favorite (boiled egg & chips) which was not on their menu. Heartfelt thank you to the staffs. Pool design is unique & my kid loved it. Kids club got activities, sand box, slide, monkey swing, books and TV. The variety keeps them entertained. Buffet dinner with meke performance should not be missed. Very entertaining & food is lovely. Even buffet breakfast is different everyday thus you wont get bored. The whole experience was superb & would definitely be coming again.
It is what it says on the tin
The clue is in the name, Beach Resort. Not what we would have chosen, but our tour operator swapped us into this 'hotel' at the last minute (40 mins from the airport), don't know why (letter due).My review is therefore tainted. Guests obviously stay on site for the main part, there is all you need here, and at additional cost, meals (but breakfast included), at a choice of 3 restaurants+cafe, and drinks. Beside the lagoon/sea there are swimming pools (one for adults only), a golf driving range, a spa on a separate site (transport provided), a book exchange, shops and local women selling craft works. The resort supports their livelihood at no cost to them (I think). Except for the super-friendly Fijians, (Bula = Hello, and you say it so often on each encounter, I doubt I'll ever forget that one Fijian word I learnt), you could be anywhere in the 'Tropics'. Other than a river trip 20 minutes away-ish and walking on the beach, for us,here was bugger all to do. Our tastes are for activity outside a hotel (a bedroom) including eating out..Neither were available. But what did we enjoy? 1) The Fijian people (happiest people on the planet?).for their buoyancy and enthusiasm, the cares of the world seem to have passed them by, An example to follow, if only. 2) The Sundowner restaurant was surprisingly good ( how snotty of me), especially a table overlooking the lagoon. 3) I enjoyed the slightly shabby chic atmosphere, particularly of our room, which included a glass of bubbly or beer at 5pm, unexpected and appreciated on the balcony. Any attempt to swish the resort up would be detrimental to its character, except around the edges. Outrigger is welcoming and honest, not trying to be anything other than a Beach Resort.
What a fantastic resort !
We stayed for four days in February, We haven't realised that February was the Rainey season when we booked When we were traveling from the airport to the resort it rained all the way. We arrived and the rain stopped,no more rain for our stay Fantastic staff and beautiful resort
Rooms are very old and dated
Rooms are very old and dated you cannot possibly write this a five star resort urgently in need of room renovations, rooms are very old not well cared for and in some places grubby bathrooms are not very nice very cramped and can be very dirty. I watched house keeping clean the room one day they spent less than five minutes doing so The girl told me that they have so many rooms to clean during their shift that’s all they can really spend on each room she was very apologetic and I felt very sad for her so I didn’t make her clean the bathroom.
Great resort and holidays
Except the 1 1/2 hour drive from Nadi airport, we had a great time...Best kids program ever(meaning me and my wife had time to relax and enjoy the holidays)..kids (3 and 4) had a ball everyday..they were happy and exhausted with all the activities and play...so early nite for them...was great and the staff and nannies were absolutely brilliant...10 out of 10 there....if you have kids...go to the outrigger!!!! highly recommend it!! The breakfast (included in package) was great...plenty of choices and all was clean and tidy...staff were nice and pleasant but quite a bit too relax to our liking(meaning we had time to eat all our breakfast before our coffee and kids hot chocolat arrives!!) We wereFIJI TIME i guess and does get annoying at times!!! our room was nice and large and surprisingly clean!!! we been to other resorts on Fiji and cleaning ain t a big part of the Fijians life!!! the resort itself is really great...great clean pools,a nice beach where you can swim and snorkel ...lots of fishes and corals...loved it...the gardens were very well maintained and very nice....we tried all the different restaurants and food outlets (i m an retired French Chef!!!)so it s in my blood and we ve been both very please and happy with the quality of the food...the adult area is really good too...with a very nice pool and a very nice bar in the pool too...to be honest we would give the outrigger a 10 out of 10 on everything....next year we re trying the Hilton Resort closer to the airport...and hope it s gonna be as good or even better than the outrigger (gonna be hard) as we ll be closer to the Marina and islands(day trips)
