River cruise itinerary

Day 1 UK to Paris, France Depart the UK on your flight  to Paris and transfer to your Tauck riverboat.

Day 2 Paris Discover the art of joie de vivre in Paris on a choice of museum visits that may include the Musée du Louvre, the Musée National de L’Orangerie, or the Musee d’Orsay, showcasing the work of some of the greatest French artists in the world. Enjoy time at leisure to enjoy as you wish or join a trip to Pere Lachaise Cemetery, where famous figures are eternally honored.

Day 3 Versailles Step off the boat into the heart of history on a guided tour inside Louis XIV’s magnificent palace and gardens at Château de Versailles, just outside of Paris. Your visit here today includes a look inside the most famous of its 700 rooms, the gilded Hall of Mirrors and the king’s over the top royal apartments, and a tour of the gardens, one of the biggest in the world. Spend the remainder of the day enjoying the amenities of your riverboat along with picturesque scenery as you cruise along the Seine to Rouen.

Day 4 Rouen Join a local guide for a walking tour of the historic capital city of Normandy in Rouen that visits the Cathédrale de Rouen, painted by the Impressionist artist Monet more than 30 times, and Joan of Arc Square, immortalized by ‘The Maid of Orléans’ who lost her fight and life here. Enjoy time to explore the sights as you wish. This evening join a Tauck Exclusive gala reception and dinner with music at the 16th-Century Château du Taillis in Duclair, a true Renaissance treasure.

Day 5 Normandy Take a memorable excursion to the D-Day Beaches of Normandy, marking the 75th Anniversary in 2019, with guided visits to Pont du Hoc, Omaha Beach, and the American Cemetery, along with lunch.

Day 6 Les Andelys Explore the strategically located medieval town and mighty castle ruins of Château Gaillard at Les Andelys, venturing off the beaten path to taste locally grown, freshly pressed cider and aged brandy Calvados at a country farm. Cruise to Vernon after lunch for an orientation walk through town, followed by a Parisian can-can show.

Day 7 Giverny Enjoy a private early opening guided visit to the home and gardens of the Impressionist painter Claude Monet at Giverny, where he painted many masterpieces still treasured today. Stroll through his painted gardens and see where he lived and worked without crowds or lines, then join in a painting class back aboard ship.

Day 8 Paris Disembark this morning and transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
