River cruise itinerary

Day 1 UK to Porto, Portugal Depart the UK on your flight to Porto. On arrival, you’ll transfer to the Scenic Azure where you’ll attend a celebratory welcome dinner with your fellow guests.

Day 2 Regua, Portugal As the ship makes it way towards the riverside town of Regua, make the most of your time on board and discover the ship’s fantastic facilities. Try your hand at traditional tile painting or while away a few hours poolside on the all-weather Sun Deck. On arrival in Regua, you’ll have some time to explore the Museu do Douro at leisure. This regional museum is great if you’re interested in learning all about the history and culture of this famous port-wine-growing region.

Day 3 Vega de Terron, Spain This morning you’ll have the chance to join a guided tour of Lamego, an elegant Portuguese town famed for its wine, art and striking baroque architecture. Alternatively, you can enjoy a guided visit of the iconic Mateus Palace, world-renowned thanks to the labels of the region’s famous Mateus Rosé wine. Back on board the ship, spend this afternoon enjoying the tranquil riverside surroundings as you cruise through the picturesque hills of the World Heritage-listed Vinhateiro wine region.

Day 4 Salamanca, Spain Spend the day exploring the ‘golden city’ of Salamanca. Rich in history, culture and visually impressive architecture, discover the oldest university in Spain and the 18th-Century wonders of the magnificent town square. At lunch you’ll experience a taste of true Spanish culture, with a delicious meal of local and regional cuisine and a dramatic live performance of Flamenco dance.

Day 5 Pinhão, Portugal This morning you’ll cruise along one of the most scenic sections of the Douro River, towards Pocinho and the pretty town of Pinhāo, a wine-haven surrounded by charming terraced hillsides. Discover the award-winning art collection in the Côa Valley Museum or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, join a guided canoeing trip on the Sabor River.

Day 6 Porto, Portugal Today explore the remote village of Provesende, an almost untouched ancient village set high in the Douro Valley. With locals proudly joining you to introduce you to their way of living, take a guided tour through the charming streets of this tiny village, exploring atmospheric alleyways, stately manor houses and an 18th-Century Baroque church. On arrival in Porto, this evening you’re invited to join a private concert within the ornate Sāo Francisco Church.

Day 7 Porto, Portugal Spend the day exploring the historic treasures of charismatic Porto, a vibrant city with a charming historic heart on the banks of the Douro River. Visit the Palacio da Bolsa, a Neoclassical World Heritage Site, and indulge in a tasting at Quinta Aveleda, a fairytale-esque wine estate that produces a delicious variety of Portuguese sparkling wine.

Day 8 Porto, Portugal Following disembarkation, transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
