Day 1 UK to Cairo Fly to the Egypt. Stay: Hyatt Regency Cairo Pyramids. D.

Day 2 Cairo The first sights we’ll tick off our must-see list are the Giza pyramid complex and the Great Sphinx, both icons of Egypt. There’ll also be some time to explore the ruins of Memphis, ancient Egypt’s most important city. Stay: Hyatt Regency Cairo Pyramids. B, L, D.

Day 3 Cairo Today’s another busy day of exploring the capital. See the incredible relics at the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, wander the walls of the imposing Citadel of Cairo and get lost in the whirl of colour and smells at one of the local markets. When the sun’s gone down, we’ll go back to the pyramids to catch the sound and light show. Stay: Hyatt Regency Cairo Pyramids. B, L, D.

Day 4 Cairo to Luxor Fly down to Luxor and board the Mövenpick MS Sunray. The sightseeing starts as we explore the East Bank. The vast temple complex at Karnak with its painted pillars is our first stop and then we’ll head to Luxor Temple. Stay: Mövenpick MS Sunray. B, L, D.

Day 5 Luxor Travel up to the small town of Dandarah. The highlight here is the temple that’s dedicated to the goddess Hathor, with its towering sculpture-topped columns. Stay: Mövenpick MS Sunray. B, L, D.

Day 6 Luxor to Edfu Our time on the West Bank is one of the highlights of this itinerary. Opposite the busy city and surrounded by lush countryside are some of Luxor’s most famous attractions. There are the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens with their rock-cut royal tombs, and the monumental Temple of Hatshepsut. When we’re back on board the journey south begins. Day 7 Edfu to Aswan There’s a full day of sailing as we continue down towards Aswan. This evening’s onboard entertainment is a gallabia party. Stay: Mövenpick MS Sunray. B, L, D.

Day 8 Aswan Our introduction to Aswan includes a visit to the High Dam – an amazing feat of modern engineering – and the huge unfinished obelisk which still lies where it was carved. There’ll also be a trip over to Philae Temple, a cruise around Kitchener Island on a traditional felucca and some time to explore the Nubian Musuem. Stay: Mövenpick MS Sunray. B, L, D.

Day 9 Aswan There are two optional excursions today: visit the impressive rock temples at Abu Simbel, travelling by road or air, or wander around a local Numbian village on the riverside. Stay: Mövenpick MS Sunray. B, L, D.

Day 10 Aswan to Luxor Sail back north to Luxor, stopping off at the unique Temple of Kom Ombo on the way. This is a unique structure as it’s dedicated to two gods - Sobek and Haroeris. Stay: Mövenpick MS Sunray. B, L, D.

Day 11 Luxor Our tour comes to an end at Luxor airport. B.

Accommodation on tour

In Cairo, you will be staying at the brand new Hyatt Regency Cairo West, a brand new luxury resort, scheduled to open at the end of 2020. The resort offers wonderful restaurants, bars, a pool and gardens and Kuoni guests will be accommodated in rooms overlooking the Pyramids of Giza, so you can sight-see from the comfort of your room.

The elegant Mövenpick MS Sunray has 66 spacious cabins and suites. All are traditionally styled and have air-conditioning, twin beds or a king-size bed, a private en suite and a window for Nile views. There’s a pool on the Sun Deck – the ideal spot for a drink to accompany the views. The Main Restaurant serves a themed buffet each night and evening entertainment of music and dancing can be found at the sophisticated Lounge Bar. There’s a reading area where you can take time out with a good book. We’ve chosen Standard Cabins on the Main Deck so you’re close to the action.
