I have been disappointed with the Winter Pavillon hotel. Although it benefits from the Palace's facilities (garden and pool, which are both equally lovely), the Winter Pavillon does not have services worth meeting 5-star-hotel standards. The wifi did not work for 3 days (annoying when I was there to do work) and staff, as sorry as they were, lack transparency and honesty in accepting they would not know when the service would be accessible to guests. My room was spacious and the balcony was nice, but everything was outdated; my TV did not work and there are no tea/coffee maker in the room (which is now common in 5-star hotels). Breakfast was good, although not exactly COVID friendly. Prices were attractive, but I won't stay there again. I checked out early and found much better service elsewhere.
One of the great hotels in Luxor, in the center of Luxor, very close to Luxor Temple, nice room, very nice garden, very cool pool, old bar, romantic restaurants with delicious food, the staff is very nice.
As always the Hotel made an exceptional effort to ensure that my stay was relaxing and memorable. From the monent I arrived the staff were incredibly helpful especially Mostafa on the Front Desk. It was especially pleasing that there had been a real improvement with the WiFi. I am looking forsward to my next visit.
MY 34 TH VISIT IN DEC /JAN 20 love the staff and their warm smile. Always stay in Pavillon and have access to town
Rooms are always clean with fresh bedding and towels daily. Breakfast lovely buffet, downstairs in the dining room, there is the outside dining is popular. All the staff at the Pavillon speak English and are so helpful. The gardens are beautiful and so peaceful to relax in. You can access the town via the rear entrance where you can catch the local bus or taxi. You can tell how much I love as go every year.
A cut short stay
We had one of our thrice-yearly stays in February and were booked there for 4 weeks, so obviously we like the place. As normal, we flit between here and the Winter Palace. Being February, we never had the air-con on at all. Being nominally on a low-carb regime breakfast was often eggs in their various freshly made forms, but interspersed at times with the local Foules Medames, Fiteer (Low Carb??? - NOT) and Felafel, that were amongst the more international buffet items. The wifi is the only thing I could criticise, but it's not just the hotel. The Egyptian ISP service is not fast in the first place, the hotel having recently been upgraded to the max 5mbps speed (I have 100 at home) But:- A - It's FREE (I'm Scottish) B - It's available all over, not just in reception areas, although if you are on the far edges of the pool area it could be described as patchy. We had to leave 11 days early due to Turkish Airlines and Egyptair stopping flights and only escaped because of the help from the hotel management.
