Day 1: Quito
On arrival transfer to your hotel for two nights.
Day 2: Quito
The first morning in Ecuador is spent on an introductory tour of Quito – the world’s first city to be declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Later, travel north out of the city to the Equatorial Monument. Visit the Ethnographic Museum inside the monument and learn about Ecuador’s various Native American groups. B.
Day 3: Quito to Otavalo
Leave the city on a full-day excursion and travel north through mountain scenery to the market town of Otavalo (approx. 2 hours), renowned for its handicrafts and hand-woven textiles. On arrival check-in to your hotel before visiting some local towns, each known for their different traditional handicrafts. B, L, D.
Days 4-5: Otavalo to Quito
An early morning visit to the famous Otavalo market marks the start of your day. Browse the vibrant stalls and buy some gifts before returning to Quito for a further two nights. The following day enjoy a full day trip to Cotopaxi National Park where you will witness the snow-capped Cotopaxi Volcano and spend time exploring the park. B, L, D.
Days 6-7: Quito to Mashpi
Travel deep into the cloud forests of the Andean Highlands for a two night stay at the beautiful Mashpi Lodge (approx. 3 hours). During your time here you can partake in a number of included activities – including hiking, ‘Sky-biking’, night excursions and some fantastic wildlife watching experiences (p 44). B, L, D.
Day 8: Mashpi to Quito
Journey back to Quito and transfer to your hotel for one more night.
Days 9-12: Quito to the Galapagos
Transfer to the airport for your flight to the Galapagos Islands. On arrival board theMV Santa Cruz II – your home for the next four nights. You can choose between the northern and eastern islands itineraries, or a five night western islands itinerary which will extend the itinerary. B, L, D.
Day 13: The Galapagos to Guayaquil
Disembark and transfer to the airport for your flight to Guayaquil for a one night stay. B.
Day 14: Guayaquil
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. B.

A level of fitness is required for walks and wet landings.
Tipping – Please budget to pay an additional $25 per passenger per day in tips (approximately) for ship’s crew and expedition guides at the end of your cruise, plus $5 per cruise for bar staff. Tipping is entirely discretionary and only payable upon a satisfactory experience.
