Beautiful historic hotel in the center of Cuenca
Two stories with large rooms arranged around an interior courtyard (which hosts a restaurant). Helpful staff with good English skills. The location is a high point -- just a block off the main central square but on a quiet street. Easy walking distance to anywhere in the Old City and great ice cream right across the street. Only drawback was that the rooms were not well sound-proofed. But we had an upstairs corner room so the noise from the central restaurant was tolerable. Breakfasts were above average.
I visited Hotel Santa Lucía during a business trip to Cuenca. Here’s my review about it Pros. 1. Kindness. It is beyond great attention. Their human treatment is remarkable. 2. Location...close to everything you want to visit 3. Price to quality ratio. Cons 1. Rooms on the lower floor need more privacy Overall it is an outstanding place. Next tine I will try their cuisine
Very good choice in Cuenca
The hotel is located in the heart of the city, close to the main sights and shopping areas, you can easily walk to all points. There is a nice patio where the restaurant is located. There is a small breakfast room and a very small gym. The rooms are on the smaller side but nice. We had a room facing the parking lot so no view but it was quiet. Nice small bathroom and enough storage place. Internet connection was very weak. Stafff was very friendly and helpful, really nice. Breakfast was good, good choice and good quality of food. I liked the stay here and can recommend this hotel. I think it is a very good choice in Cuenca.
Great location, very charming!
The hotel is located in central Cuenca, about a block from the cathedral. It's easy to walk anywhere and easy to find. The rooms are very spacious and very well decorated. The beds are huge so we were very conformable. The staff is very polite and very helpful. My only complaint is that there is no room service or food served at night. Everything in Cuenca closes early so we had a hard time finding food at 10pm.
LOUD GUESTS and no sound barrier between room and hallway
While I understand that this is a 170 year old building and in no way could have the sound proofing that a modern hotel would have, this is no excuse to allow children to run screaming through the hallways. If the parents won’t discipline them then it seems the staff should have to. Or in this case, no one did so there is excessive noise coming into our room due to the 2” gap under the door. If my husband wasn’t so ill we would transfer hotels right now. This is an historic and special property but not suitable for guests who can’t or don’t want to respect the limitations that age presents this hotel with.
