Covid safe and luxurious
We enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing break at this glorious hotel that is architecturally sympathetic the Arabic surroundings. The hotel staff are brilliantly trained and maintain their composure even under the pressure of maximum capacity over the Christmas period. Kevin from concierge was the most congenial and professional host and butler and our stay was made even more luxurious. He was a wealth of information and helped us navigate some potential minefields when it came to organising family outings. I must also compliment the spa who only wanted to ensure that you left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The rooms, although older than some other hotels in Dubai, were maintained fastidiously and the continuity of the housekeeping staff ensured that guests’ preferences were adhered to. It was made so comfortable. I was reluctant to leave - a first for me. Unusually the Eau Zone (pool restaurant) managed to serve brilliant food and be ‘beachy’. I was so happy to lunch there daily and never grew tired of the menu. Again, the service was impeccable. Dimitri was the most cordial hotel manager I have encountered and really cared if you were having a good time, always listening to and interested in feedback. Initially I was worried about staying here because of the family friendly nature of the hotel - I was sure that the fact that I didn’t have younger children would make the whole experience unpalatable. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This hotel will suit all holidaymakers - whether with children or not. I would 100% return here even after trying more expensive and newer hotels in this region. Stick with this. You can’t go wrong.
I think we were unlucky....
We were really looking forward to our stay at one&only. Maybe our expectations were too high. Staff are all first class - attentive, professional and friendly. Every meal we had was exceptional. First couple of days, it seemed that the breakfast team were new, as it was quite disorganised, but this improved. The pool was the biggest disappointment- it was so busy, it resembled a Costa del sol resort; too many people, not enough beds and the pool far too busy to enjoy. Our friends to twice a year, every year and will go nowhere else. They normally choose the Palace, which is currently closed - I suspect this would have been a better experience.
The Hotel was lovely, but the holiday was made extra special by the staff taking care of us; particular mention for Kevin the host, who from the moment he checked us in to the moment we left was outstanding & made sure we were not left wanting for anything. My girls loved the Kids club where Elizabeth was superb & Jinto @ Eau Zone Restaurant was amazing. Thank you also to Dimitri who always checked in to make sure our holiday was as expected.

We would never come back and would not stay at any one and only properties after our experience. 1. Website says 4 pools and 1 km of beach: instead the Palace is closed. If you are a family at Arabian court you get a choice of 1 pool. The main one is closed, one is adults only and one is for Residences and Spa. 2. The beach: more than half (and the best part) is closed. The open part is next to the highway and a building site (see pics). 3. Service : breakfast is total shambles akin to your local railway cafe. Stacks of dirty plates left on tables for birds to feast on. The place is completely understaffed. 4. Lunch: eUzone restaurant also totally understaffed. The only open one part for lunch, so you have 5-6 families queuing (including those with bookings) during peak times. Reminds you of your local Nando’s? Food is good though, I’ll give them that. 5. Pool; also understaffed. Dirty towels everywhere etc. Staff is so stressed out , one guy (satish) was so rude to me, it was completely unacceptable. I understand that hotels are in a difficult situation and need to cut costs. But they should also understand that people are coming from lockdowns from all over the world hoping for a magic holiday at what is supposed to be a quality resort. Instead, you get shambles of a situation. It’s a total embarrassment to the one and only franchise
Myself, my wife and 4 year old son spent 7 nights here. We had a really nice time despite some restaurants being closed due to Covid. Liz and Elizabeth at the kids club were excellent with our son who adored them. Cedric and Karan at the sports club are fantastic people who motivated us to do exercise despite the heat! Eau Zone was really nice for lunch - Tal and other staff members were very helpful and interacted with our son each day. The pool and beach areas are very good. We didn't go to the Beach club but the Jeti lounge was nice for drinks.
